I already had a headache from all the questions that were fired my way.
I expected it of course, I was announced very last minute and I was the first girl in F1.

The other guys didn't get much questions and Lando didn't look at me during the entire press conference.

I tried stealing some glances, but he didn't even look my way, not even a little side eye.

Nothing.

"Lando, question for you, how do you feel about Alix joining the grid?" A journalist asked.

He sighed, grabbed his mic that was laying on the couch next to him. "Nothing?" He shrugged.

Silence.

"I mean, should I feel something about that? I never saw her drive before, but Red Bull signed her, so I bet she's good"

He put his mic back next to him, but another journalist quickly picked up on his answer. "So you didn't know her before this weekend?"

Once again he grabbed his mic. "I said I never saw her drive before, but I know her" and for the first time, he looked at me. "Or I thought I did" he said a bit softer.

His PR training went out of the window. He had no filter. He probably forgot we were in a fucking press conference.

He broke our eye contact, and he probably realized where we were, quickly putting his mic away before he said something even more stupid.

The press conference ended pretty soon after that.

We walked out of the conference room, Lando almost ran out of it if I was honest.

I wasn't gonna let that happen. I need to talk to him, now.

"Lando please wait" I walked after him, but he just kept walking. He didn't even acknowledge me.

"Lando!" I grabbed his arm, pulling him to me. He turned around, his eyes looked at me all annoyed. "What do you want?"

"I want to talk to you, I want to apologize for not telling you sooner"

"Sooner? You didn't tell me at all" his voice was rough, something I didn't hear before. He was always pretty cute and soft with me.

Except when we were having sex of course.

"Is that why I couldn't ask who you were? Because you signed a contract with Red Bull?"

Not only because of that.

I shrugged. "I couldn't tell anyone"

"Okay fair enough, but you could've send me a little text before you posted it on your Instagram, no?"

I nodded. "Yes, I'm sorry"

"I should go" he shrugged.

"Wait, do you want to go to dinner tonight?" I asked. Which, unfortunately sounded as if I was asking him on a date. "With Kai, Ava and my brother" I quickly added.

"You have a brother?"

"Yes, older brother, lives in London, came over to see me"

He couldn't blame me for not telling him those things. We were friends with benefits, I didn't have time to tell him those things.

Most of the time, we weren't talking at all.

He was biting the inside of his cheek, probably overthinking everything.

"I don't think we can still do this" he whispered.

"Why not?"

He looked around, the journalists were exiting the conference room, looking at us in the meantime.

It wasn't unusual to see two drivers talk in the paddock but it was maybe a little weird when he was the only driver that didn't comment on my post.

"Because you drive for Red Bull and I drive for Mclaren. We can't just fuck around" he said even more soft. As if he didn't agree with it himself.

"Fair enough, no dinner then" I shrugged. "But I will sneak in your room tonight"

He frowned, which pretty quickly turned into a little smile. "You're unbelievable" he shook his head.

He brushed his hand through his hair, a thing he did when he was nervous, or on edge.

"Text me when you get back from your dinner" he said. "Because I will be sneaking in your room"

I nodded. Maybe it was smarter for him to come to me. People wouldn't really think he was coming to see me, they would probably think he was gonna come see Max.

"Bye Caine" he winked quickly before walking to his hospitality.

I walked back to my hospitality, the Red Bull one, with Carley. She didn't say a thing, but she looked at me with a smirk on her face.

I know what she was thinking, probably thought we looked cute together.
No Carley, we didn't.

But we surely had an amazing sexual tension, I was so fucking attracted to him.
He could get me weak with one look.

But we shared something that was purely sexual. I definitely didn't have time for a relationship now, especially not with a driver from another team.

"Oh my God, Who is tha-" Carley said as she stopped in front of the hospitality, looking at something or should I say, someone.

"Ryle!" I walked up to him and he immediately pulled me in a hug. I couldn't believe he was actually here.

He hated F1, or at least my dad. He didn't see my dad for over two years, but he still came to the paddock, to support me.

I absolutely love him.

"I am so happy you're here" I whispered, still hugging him.

"As if I could miss the first race of my little sister" he chuckled. "I brought your biggest fans with me by the way" he pointed behind him.

James and Jonah were standing there, waving at me with a smile on their faces.

And even if it was only for a little while, it exactly felt like home. As if I belonged here.
