[Kavya was sitting at home, scrolling through her emails, her mind preoccupied with the team's social media strategies, when her phone suddenly rang. It was an unfamiliar number, but something in her gut made her pick it up.]

Caller (urgent voice): "Mrs. Abhishek Sharma? This is from the cricket ground. There's been an accident... Abhay has been injured during practice. He's being taken to the hospital right now."

[Kavya's heart dropped to her stomach. The world around her seemed to freeze, her thoughts racing as the words registered in her mind. Abhay. Injured. Hospital.]

Kavya (her voice trembling): "What... What happened? How bad is it? Which hospital?!"

[The caller gave her the details, but Kavya barely heard them, her fingers fumbling as she grabbed her car keys. Every second felt like an eternity. Her mind swirled with terrifying thoughts—how serious was it? Was he in pain? She had never felt this helpless before.]

[Kavya drove as fast as she could, her heart pounding, hands gripping the steering wheel so tightly her knuckles turned white. Her mind kept flashing back to moments of Abhay—his stubbornness, his playful banter, his quiet gestures of care. The thought of him being hurt, of him in pain, made her chest tighten unbearably.]

[She barely registered the passing scenery as the car sped toward the hospital. All she could think about was reaching him, being there for him. Her hands shook on the wheel, tears threatening to spill down her cheeks, but she forced herself to stay strong. He needed her to be strong.]

[As she reached the hospital, Kavya parked haphazardly, not even caring if she was in a proper spot, and rushed inside, her heart in her throat.]

[Kavya burst through the hospital doors, her eyes wild as she searched for any information.]

Kavya (breathless): "Abhishek Sharma... My husband. Where is he?"

[The receptionist quickly directed her to the emergency area, and without another thought, Kavya sprinted down the hallway. Her heart was pounding so hard it hurt. As she reached the emergency room, she spotted a few familiar faces—some of Abhay's teammates standing outside, looking worried.]

Kavya (frantic): "What happened? Where is he?"

[Shubhman, who had been with Abhay when the accident happened, stepped forward. His face was pale, and his voice was low.]

Shubhman: "It was an accident during practice... He slipped and landed badly on his leg. They're checking him now. It looks like a fracture, but..."

[Kavya barely heard the rest of the explanation. Her mind was spinning. A fracture? That could mean weeks, maybe even months, of recovery. The thought of Abhay, who was always so active and passionate about cricket, being sidelined like this was unbearable.]

[Just then, a doctor emerged from the room, and Kavya rushed forward.]

Kavya (her voice shaking): "Doctor, how is he? Is he okay?"

[The doctor gave her a reassuring look, though his expression was serious.]

Doctor: "He's stable, Mrs. Sharma. It's a fracture in his leg, but fortunately, it's not as bad as it could have been. We'll need to keep him here for observation, but he's going to be fine with time and proper care."

[Kavya exhaled a shaky breath, her entire body trembling with relief. Abhay was okay. He was going to be okay.]

*******

{Kavya was finally allowed to see Abhay after what felt like an eternity. She walked into the hospital room, her heart still racing, but when her eyes landed on him, lying in the hospital bed with his leg elevated, all the fear she had been holding in came crashing down.}

[Abhay looked up at her with a weak smile, his eyes half-lidded from the painkillers they had given him. Despite the situation, he tried to act tough, as always.}

Abhay (weak chuckle): "I'm fine, Kavya... You don't need to look so worried."

[But Kavya couldn't hold it in anymore. The sight of him lying there, looking so vulnerable, brought tears to her eyes. She walked over to his bedside, sitting down beside him and taking his hand in hers.]

Kavya (voice trembling): "You scared me, Abhishek. I didn't know what to think... When I got the call, I—"

[She couldn't finish her sentence, her emotions overwhelming her. Abhay's smile faded as he saw the fear and worry in her eyes. He squeezed her hand gently, his thumb brushing over her knuckles.]

Abhay (softly): "Hey, I'm okay. I'm here. Don't cry."

[But Kavya couldn't help it. She had never realized just how much she cared for him until the thought of losing him, of him being in pain, had become a reality.]

Kavya (whispering): "I don't know what I would've done if... if it had been worse."

[Abhay's heart softened at her words. He had never seen her this emotional, and something about the way she was holding his hand, her voice trembling with fear, made him realize just how deeply she cared for him. It wasn't just duty or responsibility—there was love in her eyes, even if neither of them had said the words yet.]

Abhay (his voice low, filled with emotion): "I'm not going anywhere, Kavya. I promise. I'll be back on my feet soon."

[Kavya let out a shaky laugh, wiping away the tears that had escaped.]

Kavya (smiling through her tears): "You better. I don't think I can handle you being this stubborn and immobile."

[They shared a quiet laugh, the tension easing slightly, but the gravity of the moment still lingered in the air. For the first time, they both felt the weight of their relationship, the depth of the feelings that had been growing between them, even if they hadn't put it into words yet.[

***********

[The next few days were a whirlwind for Kavya. The hospital discharged Abhay with strict instructions to rest and let his leg heal properly. A plaster cast covered most of his lower leg, and walking was out of the question for at least a few weeks. Kavya had immediately assumed the role of his caretaker, even though she wasn't entirely aware of just how deeply she felt for him.]

[Abhay, now homebound, tried to mask his frustration with humor, but the inability to be independent was weighing on him. Despite that, he couldn't help but notice the way Kavya moved around him with quiet efficiency, handling everything with such care. Yet, for her, it felt more like a duty than anything else—she didn't yet realize just how much she cared for him.]
