As days pass, Abhay's clinginess starts to ease, but his need for Kavya's presence remains constant. He slowly begins to return to his normal self—more focused at work, attending practice with renewed energy, and interacting more confidently with his teammates. However, his moments of affection towards Kavya never fade. He would still steal moments to hug her randomly, lean on her shoulder during meals, or hold her hand while watching TV.
One evening, as Kavya is sitting on the couch, scrolling through her phone, Abhay comes up behind her, wrapping his arms around her waist. He leans his chin on her shoulder.
Abhay (smiling): "What are you up to?"
Kavya (laughing softly): "Just checking some team updates. What about you? Aren't you supposed to be reviewing your plays?"
Abhay shrugs, still holding her close.
Abhay:"I'd rather be here with you."
Just as Kavya is about to respond, Abhay's phone buzzes. He glances at it, then answers with a warm smile when he sees his mother's name flashing on the screen.
Abhay (answering): "Hey, Ma! What's up?"
On the other side, his mother, Manju, is clearly excited as her voice rings through the phone.
Manju: "Abhay! Beta, your sister is getting engaged! Finally! You both have to come over and help with the preparations. We need Kavya especially! After all, she's the daughter-in-law of the house, and she'll be the one running the show."
Abhay chuckles, looking over at Kavya, who raises an eyebrow in curiosity. He puts the call on speaker so she can hear the conversation too.
Abhay (teasing): "Did you hear that, Kavya? You're going to be the star of the engagement preparations."
Kavya smiles, but there's a slight tension in her expression.
Kavya:"What exactly do you mean by 'running the show,'mumma?"
Manju (playfully): "Arre, beta! As the daughter-in-law, you'll have to take charge of everything—decorations, the food, making sure the guests are comfortable. You know, all the important things. Komal's engagement is a big deal, and we're counting on you!"
Kavya's smile falters for a moment. Although Manju's tone is light-hearted, the pressure Kavya feels starts to build. She's always taken her responsibilities seriously, and the idea of being in charge of such an important event makes her nervous.
Kavya (nodding slowly): "Oh, okay. I'll... I'll do my best."
Manju (cheerfully): "I know you will, beta! You're the perfect daughter-in-law. We're all excited to see you."
After a few more exchanges, Abhay ends the call and turns to Kavya, who is still sitting quietly, her fingers fiddling with the edge of her phone.
Abhay (softly): "Hey, what's wrong? You look tense."
Kavya bites her lip, trying to find the right words. "I just... I didn't expect your mom to put so much responsibility on me. I mean, I want to help, but what if I mess up?"
Abhay frowns, moving to sit beside her. He gently takes her hand, giving it a reassuring squeeze.
Abhay: "You won't mess up. You're amazing at everything you do, Kavya. And it's just Ma being Ma—she's excited and knows you'll do a great job."
Kavya sighs, leaning her head on his shoulder.
Kavya:"It's just a lot of pressure. I don't want to disappoint anyone, especially not your family."
