When Abhay finally arrived, he found the house quiet. The living room was dimly lit, and he could hear the faint sound of something clattering in the kitchen. He headed that way, his heart racing.
As he entered the kitchen, he spotted Kavya standing by the sink, lost in thought as she absentmindedly washed dishes. Her back was to him, and he could see her shoulders tense with each movement.
Abhay: (softly) "Kavya?"
She turned, her expression a mix of surprise and something else—something he couldn't quite place.
Kavya: "Oh, Abhi! I didn't hear you come in."
Abhay took a step closer, concern etched on his face.
Abhay: "I was looking for you. Ritika bhabhi said you left because you were upset. What happened?"
Kavya hesitated, her heart racing. She didn't want to burden him with her insecurities, but seeing him standing there, genuine and concerned, made her want to open up.
Kavya: (sighing) "It's just... I felt a little uncomfortable during the match today. Seeing your ex... it stirred up feelings I thought I was over."
Abhay's heart ached at her words. He stepped closer, wanting to bridge the gap between them.
Abhay: "Kavya, I'm sorry if that upset you. I didn't even think about how that would make you feel."
Kavya looked down, her fingers fidgeting with the dishcloth.
Kavya: "I know it was silly, but it just reminded me of things I didn't want to think about. I guess I let my insecurities take over."
Abhay gently lifted her chin, forcing her to meet his gaze.
Abhay: "You're not silly, and your feelings matter. I chose you, Kavya. You're the one I want to be with, not her."
His words enveloped her like a warm hug, and the tension in her chest began to ease.
Kavya: "It's just hard sometimes, you know? I want to be confident, but seeing her made me question things."
Abhay: (nodding) "I get it. But I want you to know that I'm here for you. Always. You don't need to compare yourself to anyone else."
Kavya felt a wave of relief wash over her. The weight of her earlier thoughts began to lift.
She stepped closer to Abhay, her heart swelling with appreciation for his support.
Kavya: "Thank you for understanding. I didn't mean to worry you."
Abhay: "You could never worry me too much. You're my priority. Let's talk about this, figure it out together."
He wrapped his arms around her, pulling her into a gentle embrace. The warmth of his presence was a balm to her anxious thoughts.
Kavya: (smiling softly) "I really needed this. I'm sorry for shutting you out earlier."
Abhay pulled back slightly to look into her eyes, his expression serious yet affectionate.
Abhay: "You never have to apologize for feeling how you feel. Just promise me that you'll talk to me if something is bothering you."
Kavya nodded, her heart full.
Kavya: "I promise."
As they stood there, wrapped in each other's warmth, Abhay felt a surge of affection that he couldn't contain.
Abhay: (grinning) "And maybe, next time, we can both show our exes that we've moved on. I want to be proud to show everyone that I have you."
Kavya laughed, the sound light and carefree.
