It was a warm evening at Rohit Sharma's house, and the team and their families were gathered for a cozy dinner party. Laughter and chatter filled the air as everyone caught up, enjoying the relaxed vibe. The players were all outside, discussing the latest match strategies, while the wives sat together in the living room, exchanging stories, fashion tips, and life updates.
Kavya entered the living room, her eyes scanning the space. She had just finished speaking with one of the team's sponsors and was excited to finally join the group. As she approached, she noticed a familiar sight: the wives were gathered on the couches, giggling and talking about something with clear excitement in their voices.
Ritika: (playfully nudging Devisha) "Oh, come on! You know it's fun. It's not that hard."
Devisha: (laughing) "You only say that because Rohit never lets you fast properly. He's always sneaking food into your plate!"
Athiya: (smiling) "Rahul does the same. He can't stand seeing me hungry. The man gets stressed just watching me."
They all giggled at that, each one sharing anecdotes about their husbands' reactions to fasting. It was a familiar topic—Karwa Chauth.
Kavya, feeling a bit out of the loop, raised an eyebrow as she approached. She slid into the conversation seamlessly, her curiosity piqued.
Kavya: (smiling as she sat down beside Ritika) "What's all the excitement about? I could hear you guys laughing from across the room."
Anushka: (grinning) "We're talking about Karwa Chauth! It's coming up soon."
Kavya's eyes widened slightly. She had heard about Karwa Chauth but had never been part of the discussion before. As an arranged marriage couple, she and Abhay hadn't talked much about these traditional rituals yet.
Kavya: (curiously) "Karwa Chauth, huh? I've heard about it, but... I don't know much. Do you all celebrate?"
Ritika: (with a bright smile) "Oh, we all do! Well, most of us. It's kind of become a team tradition. Every year, the wives fast for their husbands' long lives, and it's more fun than it sounds."
Devisha: (laughing) "Yeah, and the husbands act like they're the ones fasting. Surya follows me around all day, making sure I'm not too tired or cranky."
Anushka: (nodding, her eyes glinting with amusement) "And don't get me started on Virat. He pretends like he's tough about it, but halfway through the day, he's offering me food and trying to convince me to eat."
Kavya chuckled, feeling a little overwhelmed but amused by how seriously everyone took the day. She didn't know how to feel about the idea of fasting for Abhay, especially since they hadn't even fully discussed where their relationship was heading yet.
Kavya: (tentatively) "So, it's really a big deal, huh? Do you all genuinely fast the whole day?"
Ritika: (grinning) "Well, some of us follow the tradition to an extent ... let's say, we make our own versions of it. It's really about the thought behind it, you know? The fasting, the prayer—it's a beautiful tradition."
Athiya: (gently) "It's not just about the fasting. It's more about the love and care. Honestly, the boys get so emotional about it. They're usually much more invested than we are."
Kavya smiled thoughtfully, imagining Abhay's reaction if she ever told him she was fasting for him. Would he take it seriously? Or would he be like the other boys, trying to make her break the fast early? She couldn't help but smile at the thought of Abhay fussing over her all day.
