As they returned to their regular lives, the contrast between Kavya and Abhay became more pronounced. Kavya, now deeply engrossed in her social media management duties for the cricket team, was busier than ever. The constant flow of content creation, player updates, and event planning took most of her time. Her phone was always buzzing, her laptop open late into the night, as she tried to keep up with the demanding pace.
On the other hand, Abhay, who had come to realize how much he loved Kavya during the family engagement, found himself yearning for her attention. But with her work, getting close to her wasn't as easy as it used to be. Still, that didn't stop him from trying to find ways to be near her—whether it was sneaking into her office to lean over her shoulder, sitting closer than necessary during breakfast, or simply resting his head on her lap when she worked late into the night.
One evening, as Kavya sat on the living room couch, scrolling through her phone, managing the team's latest social media post, Abhay crept up behind her.
Abhay: (playfully leaning his chin on her shoulder) "Can you take a break? I miss you."
Kavya: (absentmindedly swiping through the screen) "Hmm? Just a minute, Abhi. I need to post this story before tomorrow's practice session."
Abhay: (pouting, trying to wrap his arms around her waist) "You said that an hour ago. You've been glued to your phone all day."
Kavya, barely paying attention, leaned away, trying to focus on her task. But Abhay wasn't one to give up so easily. He moved closer again, this time pulling her into a half-embrace, his face inches away from hers.
Abhay: (softly) "Kavya... I'm right here, you know."
Kavya: (sighing, still typing) "I know, I know. Just give me five more minutes."
He let out a small groan and decided to switch tactics. Standing up, he took her phone out of her hand, causing her to gasp in surprise.
Kavya: (slightly annoyed) "Abhi! I was in the middle of something!"
Abhay: (holding the phone just out of reach) "And I've been in the middle of missing you. You work too much. Let me have you for a few minutes."
Kavya let out a sigh, her frustration momentarily melting away as she saw the pleading look on his face. She knew he was trying to be playful, but there was an undercurrent of need in his voice. She had been so wrapped up in her work that she hadn't realized how much he craved her presence.
Kavya: (smiling softly) "Alright, fine. Five minutes. But then I really have to get back to work."
Abhay: (grinning widely, pulling her close) "Deal. Five minutes of me having you all to myself."
He settled down beside her on the couch, pulling her into a tight embrace, his head resting on her shoulder. Kavya smiled, brushing her fingers through his hair, feeling the warmth of his body pressed against hers. Abhay, in return, nuzzled into her neck, finally content that he had her attention, even if only for a short while.
Abhay: (murmuring against her neck) "You know, you're the best part of my day."
Kavya: (smiling, gently pushing him back) "You're too much sometimes. But I appreciate you being patient with me."
She kissed the top of his head, causing him to smile wider. For Abhay, these moments were everything. But despite the playful affection, he was still hoping for more time with her.

One morning, Kavya was rushing to get ready for a meeting with the team. She was standing in front of the mirror, her hair half-done, when Abhay snuck up behind her, wrapping his arms around her waist and pulling her close.
Abhay: (whispering into her ear, his voice playful) "Are you going to leave me alone again today?"
Kavya: (laughing lightly, pushing his hands away) "I have work, Abhi. I need to be there on time. You know that."
Abhay: (grinning mischievously, tightening his hold) "Work can wait a little, can't it?"
Kavya rolled her eyes but couldn't help smiling at his persistence. She knew he was only half-joking. In reality, he just wanted to spend more time with her. She sighed and leaned back against him for a moment, letting herself relax in his arms.
Kavya: (gently) "I'll be back soon, okay? We can spend some time together later."
Abhay: (pouting dramatically) "Later always feels too far away."
Before she could respond, he pressed a soft kiss to her shoulder, causing her to shiver slightly. The tenderness of the gesture made her heart skip a beat, but she quickly brushed it off, reminding herself that this was just his way of seeking comfort.

Later that week, they were getting ready for bed. Kavya was already tucked under the blankets, her phone in hand as she scrolled through work emails. Abhay, after finishing up in the bathroom, slid into bed beside her, immediately pulling her into his arms.
Abhay: (whispering into her hair) "Come here, you workaholic."
Kavya: (laughing softly, resisting at first) "Abhi, I need to—"
Abhay: (cutting her off, playfully tugging her phone away) "Nope. You need to rest. And I need you close."
Reluctantly, she gave in, letting him pull her closer. He wrapped his arms around her tightly, burying his face in her neck. For a moment, they lay there in silence, the warmth of their bodies pressed together.
Abhay: (softly) "This is the best part of my day."
His words caught her off guard. She turned slightly to look at him, seeing the genuine affection in his eyes. He wasn't just being clingy for the sake of comfort—he truly cherished these moments with her. Kavya's heart swelled, but she quickly brushed it off, still convinced that his attachment was just part of his coping process.
Kavya: (smiling) "You say that every day."
Abhay: (grinning) "Because it's true every day."
***********
One afternoon, Kavya had finally finished a hectic day of meetings and calls. She collapsed onto the couch, exhausted, hoping to have a moment to herself. But as if on cue, Abhay appeared, sitting down beside her and immediately pulling her onto his lap.
Kavya: (laughing, though tired) "Abhi, seriously? I just sat down."
Abhay: (smiling cheekily) "So did I. And I figured you needed a cuddle break."
She rolled her eyes but couldn't hide her smile. As much as she tried to act indifferent, there was something undeniably comforting about being held by him. She leaned her head against his chest, letting out a content sigh as his arms wrapped around her.
Kavya: (teasingly) "You're getting too used to this, aren't you?"
Abhay: (grinning, nuzzling her hair) "Maybe. But can you blame me?"
Kavya didn't answer, only smiled as they sat together in comfortable silence. Despite her initial reservations, she had grown to appreciate his constant need for physical closeness. It wasn't just a coping mechanism anymore—it was becoming a natural part of their relationship, one that brought them closer in ways she hadn't anticipated.
these little moments—whether it was Abhay hugging her from behind while she cooked, resting his head in her lap as they watched TV, or sneaking in a kiss on her forehead before heading off to practice—it became clear that their bond was deepening. Even if Kavya hadn't fully realized it yet, Abhay's love for her was growing with each passing day, and his constant need for her presence was a reflection of just how much she meant to him.
The only question was—when would Kavya finally realize it too?
