The day started like any other. Kavya had managed to keep her Karwa Chauth fast hidden from Abhay so far. She knew it wasn't going to be easy, especially since they had practice that morning, but she was determined. With her mind made up, she went through the motions, pretending like everything was fine.
During practice, Abhay kept throwing concerned glances her way. He noticed something off—the way she skipped breakfast, the tired look in her eyes, and how she avoided standing too long in the sun.
Abhay: (frowning) "Kavya, you alright? You seem... a bit off today."
Kavya flashed him a reassuring smile, her voice light.
Kavya: (brushing it off) "I'm fine, Abhi. Just a little tired. Don't worry."
He wasn't entirely convinced, but knowing how busy she'd been lately, he didn't press further. Still, his eyes stayed on her throughout the morning.
Later in the day, the team gathered for a break. Rohit, Virat, Jassi, Harry, and the rest of the boys were lounging around, their practice done for the day. Abhay sat with them, sipping on his water as they chatted about random topics. The conversation eventually shifted towards Karwa Chauth.
Rohit: (smirking) "So, boys, Karwa Chauth today. Anyone planning a surprise for the missus?"
Virat: (grinning) "Anushka always gets me something, so I've got to step up this year. Thinking of cooking for her... maybe."
Rahul: (raising an eyebrow) "Cooking, Virat? Bold choice, man."
The boys laughed, and the conversation flowed. Everyone started sharing their plans and ideas, with some of them teasing each other about how their wives might react if they forgot about the fast.
Jassi: (looking at Abhay) "What about you, bro? You got something planned for Kavya?"
Abhay looked confused, his brows furrowing.
Abhay: (puzzled) "Wait... what's this Karwa Chauth thing exactly?"
The guys stared at him for a second, then burst out laughing.
Rohit: (teasing) "Oh, man. You're in trouble if you don't know this by now. It's a big day, dude! Wives fast all day for their husbands' long life. No food, no water."
Virat: (laughing) "Yeah, and you're supposed to surprise her, break her fast, and make her feel special."
Rahul: (nudging him) "You sure Kavya didn't tell you anything? She might be fasting for you."
Abhay's eyes widened slightly as realization struck. He quickly replayed the morning in his head—Kavya skipping breakfast, her odd behavior during practice, the way she kept brushing off his questions.
Abhay: (slowly) "Wait... you think Kavya... might be fasting for me?"
The guys exchanged knowing looks, nodding in unison.
Rohit: (grinning) "I wouldn't be surprised, bro. She's probably hiding it because she knows how protective you are."
Abhay sat back, his mind racing. It all made sense now. Kavya had been acting strange all day—probably because she didn't want him to worry. He felt a strange mix of guilt and affection swelling in his chest.
Abhay: (determined) "If she's fasting... I need to do something special for her too. I can't just let her go through it alone."
Jassi: (grinning) "That's the spirit, man! Plan something romantic."
The boys started throwing ideas around, from candlelight dinners to heartfelt surprises, while Abhay quietly made a plan of his own. He couldn't believe Kavya had been doing all of this without telling him.
