The ride to the hospital was a blur of panic and chaos. Abhay gripped the steering wheel so tightly his knuckles turned white, his foot pressing down on the gas pedal as if it were his only way to control the situation. Kavya, sitting beside him, could feel his tension radiating off of him. It was supposed to be her in panic, right? But somehow, despite her own contractions and growing discomfort, she remained the calm one.

Abhay: voice shaky "Kavya, I—I can't believe this is happening... what if—what if something goes wrong? What if—"

Kavya: gently cutting him off "Abhay, stop. Breathe. We've prepared for this. Everything's going to be okay."

But Abhay wasn't listening. His eyes were glued to the road, his hands trembling on the wheel as he muttered to himself. He was terrified. And it showed. Kavya, now fully aware of the depth of his fear, gave him a reassuring look, despite her own growing anxiety.

Kavya: softly, but firm "Abhay, listen to me. We've got this. Just get us there safely."

Her voice, calm and grounded, seemed to cut through his panic. Slowly, he nodded, though his eyes still betrayed his nerves. Kavya reached out, placing a reassuring hand on his arm.

Kavya: squeezing his arm gently "We're in this together. One step at a time, okay?"

Abhay swallowed hard and nodded, trying to steady his breathing. He could feel Kavya's hand on his arm, steadying him as much as she could, and for the first time in what felt like forever, his pulse began to slow.

When they finally reached the hospital, Abhay's heart was still pounding in his chest. He pulled into the parking lot, barely putting the car in park before he bolted out of the driver's seat.

Abhay: frantic "Kavya! Hold on, I'll get the stretcher—"

He practically leapt out of the car and rushed toward the entrance, the adrenaline coursing through his body. Nurses rushed around him, their calm professionalism contrasting sharply with his frazzled state. Within seconds, a stretcher was brought to him, and Kavya was quickly transferred onto it, though she remained remarkably calm, offering Abhay a smile as she was wheeled toward the maternity ward.

Kavya: softly, despite the pain "I'm okay, Abhay. Just... breathe, alright? I'm fine."

Abhay didn't hear her. He was still in a rush, his mind too frantic to absorb her calmness. He followed the nurses down the hallway, but when they reached the exam room, the nurse stopped him.

Nurse: smiling gently "Sir, you'll need to fill out some forms while we check her in. Please, have a seat."

Abhay, almost in a daze, nodded absently and slumped down into the chair, his heart still hammering in his chest. He tried to focus on the clipboard in his hands, but his brain was spinning. His hands shook as he picked up the pen, staring at the first question on the form: "Mother's full name?"

Abhay: mumbling to himself "Kavya... I... I know this one."

But then his mind went blank. His eyes flicked from the form to the door, where Kavya had just been wheeled behind. The thought of her in there, in pain... the weight of everything suddenly felt like it was too much.

Nurse: noticing his struggle, trying to ease the tension "Sir? Are you alright? What's your wife's name?"

Abhay blinked a few times, trying to focus, his mind still racing. He opened his mouth to answer, but nothing came out.
