I didn't wait for them to try to explain. I rushed to Emily's side and started to check her over and immediately realized what had happened.

"I'm sure you must have noticed by now, but this is all your fault you know?"

I turned and gave the king of Hell a death glare that I would ever so gladly act on if not for Emily's current state.

"Shut your disgusting mouth and let me work!"

I turn to Emily and take a deep breath before placing my hand on her shoulder. I knew I wouldn't be fast enough to prevent her from seeing all my trauma, but I could redirect the majority back to me while I remove my twisted pocket of mana from her.

I started the process, I managed to spare her from most of the horrors but a few still managed to snake through my grasp and get to her. It was horrible to know what she was witnessing. The first one she even experienced before I could separate her from it.

Almost there now, just a little more.

I could feel myself growing faint after the hour or so of trying to remove such tangled mana from her with hurting her. All while also reliving that Hell I called childhood.

There it is! So close...Got you!

I finally manage to snag the last few strands of my mana out before opening my eyes. Emily woke up and looked at hazily.

"You're alive...that's good..."

I felt the world spinning around me as it all grew dark.

I had a feeling this might happen. I was living the nightmares again. I could hear him somewhere just out of sight. He was mocking me.

"You couldn't even protect her from yourself! You'll turn out just like me! It almost makes me proud if you weren't such a pussy ass bitch!"

The blows began to rain down on me, but I didn't bother to react to them. I knew this was only temporary and I had kept my sound mind this time. I just had to wait out the clock.

Eventually the nightmare fades and I open my eyes only to see a rubber duck sitting on my face with a rather unfashionable hand gesture.

"Rise and shine you washed up bellhop."

I turn to see Lucifer glaring at me and realize that I'm in some kind of empty room and tied to a chair.

"Ha. So you don't trust me? How sad to see."

"Stop acting like nothing is wrong! Emily was put in danger because of you!"

"But she is fine now. And you didn't seem so worried earlier."

"I know she's fine, and I wasn't worried because I actually had an ounce of faith in you to come and help her."

Lucifer had faith in me? I suppose it shouldn't be to surprising with my stellar reputation.

"So why am I being kept like a prisoner?"

"WHY?! Because you nearly killed her twice now! She has scars from you now you bastard!"

"You think I don't know that?! You think I'm proud with how I've handled all this?! I made my mistakes, and she paid the price!...*sigh* If you're going to kill me get it over with. She'll be safer that way. I am nothing but an obstacle to her happiness."

Just then the door to the room burst open and Emily was struggling in as Vaggie and Charlie tried to stop her.

"This is enough! I already told you it was an accident!"

She then turns to me.

"And what did I say to you about thinking about yourself that way?!"

I can't meet her eyes. Here I had nearly been the reason for her death, but she's trying to help me. I can't tell if I'm just that pitiful, or if she's just that naïve.
