Al seemed stressed when he left the table abruptly. I was worried, but I was still mad at him for what he had done earlier-What am I saying?! I'm mad that he risked his life so I won't check to see if he's okay?! What kind of logic am I working with here?!

I turn to ask Laura if she wants to join me to check on Al, but she's already waiting next to our bedroom door.

"Coming dear? I know couples can fight, but in the end you must take care of each other. No sense in letting the other suffer because they made a dumb choice."

I get up and make my way to our rooms door and knock on it.

"Al?"

There's no response from inside so we enter and I can see that the bathroom light is on. Laura seemed calm down a little at seeing that nothing yet looked out of the ordinary for the room.

"Perhaps we should wait for him to finish up and come out?"

Laura shook her head.

"This is for you two to handle. Don't let things drag on and become grudges. Talk to each other and come to an understanding."

With that she made her way back out of the room and closed the door behind her. I sat down on the bed and waited for almost ten minutes till I heard him start to dry off. A few minutes later he exits the bathroom in a towel and seems shocked to see me.

"E-Emily? Sorry if you waiting to use the bath. I wouldn't have taken so long if I knew you were waiting."

"Al, I ain't worried about the bath. I want us to talk about what happened earlier today."

"Ah, okay then."

He takes a seat next to me on bed and tries to look as professional as possible but it wasn't really working with his still wet hair nearly covering his eyes.

"I know you didn't mean to worry me, and that you really just didn't think much about such a small wound. I'll admit I may have been a bit harsh on you for it. After all we both know you went through worse in the battle for the hotel and came out just fine. I just don't want to see you in any danger, no matter how small or insignificant you may think it is."

He was listening to me intently, and nodding every now and again to show his mind wasn't busy with other thoughts.

"I just...Don't do something so unnecessary when it could hurt you. Okay?"

"Okay. I'm sorry."

I feel a smile on my face as I take hold of his hand.

"It's okay. Can you tell me why you got up from dinner so abruptly though? You seemed troubled."

Al began to look a little nervous but quickly covered it up.

"It doesn't appear to be anything too serious yet, but it seems that someone else's voice has entered my head temporarily. It has since passed and the intruder didn't seem to even realize that they had intruded in the first place."

That was certainly not what I was expecting. I thought it was just because of the knife incident. Another voice in his head? Just how many does that make?

I squeeze his hand and put an arm around his shoulders.

"Well, whatever or whoever it is, I'm sure we can find a way to solve it. Lets do our best to enjoy ourselves for now. If they truly didn't mean to intrude, then they are most likely more terrified than either of us are. Imagine a stranger suddenly being able to hear your every thought and you have no idea it's even happening."

"I suppose you are right. The poor sap must have been terrified that his mind was no longer as private as he would wish it to be."

"Exactly. Now why don't we see if your mother has anymore plans for today, okay?"
