"Well, you made it to eighteen," Casey called over the music as her, Aoife and I jumped around on the dance floor of the Dinniman, "And with your virginity intact. I don't know which one I'm more surprised about."

"Funny," Aoife shot back, adjusting her Happy Birthday sash.

It was Aoife and her brother Kevin's birthday so here I was getting drunk and 'dancing', if you could call it that.

I had to beg my mam to let me out tonight but I was glad she caved because I was having a lot of fun.

Plus Joey was leaning against the bar in jeans and a fitted white shirt with the sleeves rolled up to the elbow.

He looked heartbreakingly gorgeous and I was surprised I hadn't gone over and talked to him in my drunken state.

"How are you, Aoife, love?" Aoife's mam, Trish, asked, as we took a seat at the table, "How are you two?"

"Hiya, Trish," Casey sighed, "I'm a small bit tipsy, Trish."

"I second that," I nodded.

"Are you now?" Trish chuckled, "What about you, Aoife?"

"I'm tone-sold-cober, Mam."

"Stone-cold-sober, you mean?" Trish eyed her, "I'm sure you are."

"I love you, Mammy," Aoife leaned to press a kiss to her mother'ss cheek, "Thanks for my party."

"I love you too, my little rogue," She replied, "But I don't love that dress. I could see the cheeks of your ass when you were dancing earlier."

She was referring to Aoife's white skin-tight, strapless tube dress. The girl looked amazing in it, I mean with curves like that she looked amazing in most everything.

I on the other hand was roped into wearing a short black dress that hugged my body. I felt completely out of my element but both Casey and Aoife assured me I looked 'banging'.

"No you couldn't," Aoife snorted, downing the rest of her Smirnoff Ice, "This dress is nothing compared to the rest of them."

"And Jesus wept," Trish groaned, "I'm warning you now, young lady, I don't care that you're eighteen now. You're not too big for a clip around the ear."

"You'd never clip my ears," Aoife grinned, "You're just a big old softie, aren't ya, Mam?"

"She looks like a model, doesn't she, Trish?" Casey chimed in, "Yourself and Tony must have used the good stuff when ye made this one."

"She's definitely model material," I smiled, wrapping an arm around Aoife while Casey wrapped hers around me.

"You two are my bestest friends in the whole wide world of Ballylaggin!" Casey began tearing up.

"You two are the biggest rides in school," Aoife wailed, pulling us both into a hug.

"You are," I insisted.

"No it's you two."

"Okay, how about we are all rides," I offered.
