Song of the chapter

HOPE UR OK; Olivia Rodrigo

"He wore long sleeves 'cause of his dad."

"She was tired 'cause she was brought
into a world where family was merely blood."

"Nothing's forever, nothing is as good as it seems."

"Well, I hope you know how proud I am you were created, with the courage to unlearn all of their hatred."

"Did you know the world is seventy percent ocean?" Gabriella blabbed from beside me.

Half the time I had no idea what the girl was talking about, but I learned to just go with it.

"I did not," I chuckled, taking a drag from my smoke.

"Let me try the cigarette," Gabriella shocked me by saying.

"You? You want to try a smoke?" I gaped.

"Yeah, why not?" She shrugged, reaching to take it from my hand but I was quick to intercept it.

"Because Aoife would wring my neck," I stated, inhaling the smoke.

"I want to try. Everyone's always doing it, and it's time I see what all the fuss is about," She frowned.

"Aoife specifically said 'if you let Gabby do anything she wouldn't normally do, I'll cut off your balls and hang you with them.' And that girl means business," I shuddered.

"She's not here is she? So give me the cigarette, Joey," She huffed, attempting to look tough.

But failing so miserably.

"I'm serious, Joey. If you don't let me try it, I'll find someone who will. Wouldn't you rather be with me in case I vomit or something?" She demanded.

Fuck.

I guess she was right. I'd rather her be with me than going after the wrong crowd.

"Fine," I sighed, "But you'll hate it."

"Maybe, I'll love it," She stuck her tongue out before plucking the cigarette out of my hand and pressing it to her lips.

She took a deep inhale and then burst into a fit of coughs.

"Jesus," She gasped for air, "That's fucking horrible."

"What'd I tell you," I chuckled.

Instead of handing me back the cigarette she threw it on the ground and stomped on it.

"Those will kill you, ya know," She smiled up at me.

You're killing me.

It was the truth. Ever since that first day I saw her, I hadn't been able to get her out of my head. Aside from the fact she was beautiful she was also hilarious and so fucking nice.
