a few months had passed since the incident in france. although confused, ally had came to terms with the events, niall always comforting her.

the months of october to january were busy; she had reshoots for anyone but you, a film coming out later in the year, she had finally gotten the script for her own marvel film, the name was a work in progress but the story was promising.

niall had been working on his new album 'the show' while she was away, wanting it to be a surprise for her. he couldn't wait to show her it.

ally's birthday was right around the corner, january seventeenth coming closer and closer. this was her first birthday with niall; well, niall as her boyfriend.

last year they were simply number neighbours. the amount of things that can happen in a year is crazy.

on her last birthday, she woke up alone, this time, she's waking up to the fresh scent of tea, a few hushed barks from penny and niall's shirtless body entering her room carrying a tray.

what a sight.

"happy birthday, darling," niall spoke once he saw she was awake and sitting up, setting the tray down to hug her close.

"thank you, baby."

"presents or breakfast first?" he asked. he secretly hoped she would say presents because he couldn't wait to give her it.

"hmm presents," ally said giddily like a child on christmas morning.

so, niall pulled out a bag from under the bed, ally gasping in shock at the very obvious hiding spot she somehow didn't notice.

excitedly, she began to open it. there were a few gifts on the top she quickly opened, admiring each one.

she then pulled out a small blue bag, a shocked laugh escaping her mouth when she saw the word "jellycat" on the front.

"niall you didn't!"

"open it," he urged.

when she opened the bag she was greeted with a small pink bunny, taking it out the bag she gazed at it more, finally noticing the numbers etched into its ear.

"is that the day we got together?" she asked, looking away from the bunny for a second.

"yep, do you like it?" niall replied cautiously.

"i love it!" ally exclaimed, leaping into niall's arms encasing him in a tight hug.

"there's still more in there," niall reminded her when he realised she wouldn't let go.

"oh yeah sorry."

carefully, she lifted the wrapped gift out the bag, immediately ripping it open.

inside was a cd case, no cover just a note:

"to jo,
happy birthday i love you so much.
love, your james."

awestruck, ally opened the case to see a plain white cd with "the show" written on it in permanent marker, clearly in niall's writing.
