the beeping of machines was the only sound filling the room, no one talked, no one looked up; nothing. just an eerie silence as they all reflected on what had just happened.

suddenly, a familiar voice broke the silence. "oh my god," said violet in shock as she looked at her best friends broken body.

"hi vi, take a seat," luke said as he saw her at the door, tears welling up in her eyes.

"what happened?" she questioned.

so quinn recounted the heartbreaking story, luke and niall filing the blanks, causing a somber mood to fall heavily on the room.

once again, they were left in silence, niall and violet each holding one of ally's hands as she lay there fast asleep.

"are one of you ally's partner?" a nurse questioned, looking around the room.

immediately niall stood up, the nurse asking him if he could step outside for a second.

once they were in a private room, she began to ask some questions. "were you aware miss hayes was pregnant?" she began with.

wow, what a way to be blunt, niall thought.

"yeah we have known for a few weeks now- wait, was?"

"i'm very sorry but she has lost the baby," she said. it was never easy to deliver this kind of news. "she suffered some injuries to the abdomen, ultimately causing her to miscarry."

niall just sat there in shock, he had just came to terms with the fact he was going to be a dad, now his heart had just been shattered by a few simple words.

silently, niall made his way back to ally's room, tears continuously streaming as he tried to gather himself.

"is everything okay?" quinn asked, she was obviously worried for her sister and after seeing the state niall was in, it only made her panic more.

"not really," he tried to say only to get chocked up on his words as they finally had sunk in.

"what's wrong?" luke asked calmly. on the inside his big brother senses were going crazy.

"ally was pregnant, we were going to tell you tonight," niall said between short breaths trying his hardest to get his words out. "she lost the baby."

"fuck," quinn said as she processed the news.

"it's mum's fault, she kept kicking into her," luke said with regret, almost like he could have stopped it. if only he wasn't getting into fights with his dad he could have saved the baby.

once again, silence enveloped the room, no one knowing what to say.

well, that was until ally broke the silence.

"i lived bitch," she whispered.

"how you feeling," niall asked, trying his hardest not to let her see his broken smile.

"like i have the worst hangover known to man," she said before taking a look around the room, finally noticing everyone's solemn faces.

"what's wrong?" she questioned, her hand instinctively going to her stomach where a small bump lay.

"we lost the baby, ally," niall said trying to keep as calm as possible.

"what, no?" she gasped, her eyes immediately overflowing with tears.

niall simply nodded, going to lay down next to her as she broke down in his arms.

they were so excited to be parents, sure it wasn't planned but they couldn't wait.

their whole world had been broken by two selfish people who were supposed to be there for them.
