As I struggled against the restraints, a hushed voice pierced the darkness.

"You're lucky, Elizabeth. If you weren't carrying Raymond Edward's child, you'd be dead by now."

My eyes widened in shock.

"What...what are you talking about?"

I stammered.

The voice leaned in, its tone dripping with malice.

"Don't play dumb. You know exactly what I mean. Raymond's child. His heir."

No, it couldn't be.

"How...?"

I whispered, denial and fear wrestling within me.

The voice sneered.

"You really don't remember, do you? Raymond's been playing a dangerous game. And you're the prize."

Thoughts swirled, chaotic and disjointed.

Raymond, the chairman's son.

Engaged to Rachel, the socialite.

Why would he risk everything?

And what about Michael?

My heart ached, torn between the two men.

One, a savior.

The other, a secret lover.

The captor's voice cut through my turmoil.

"Raymond will do anything to keep his legacy intact. Even if it means betraying his own family."

A chill ran down my spine.

What had I gotten myself into?

And what lay ahead for me and my unborn child?

As the darkness closed in, I knew one thing:

I had to escape.

For my child's sake.

For my own survival.

The lights flickered to life, illuminating the cramped room.

Officer John stood before me, his eyes cold and detached.

"Aria, hand over the drive,"

He ordered, his voice devoid of emotion.

My mind reeled in shock.

"Officer Johnohn, what's going on? Why did you betray me?"

His expression remained impassive.

"I'm following instructions."

"Whose instructions?"

I demanded.

Officer Johnohn's gaze faltered for a fraction of a second.

"Chairman."

My blood ran cold.

"You're working for him?"

John nodded.
