Mrs. Smith and Rachel sat in the grand sitting room, their faces etched with concern.

"I can't believe Elizabeth is in this situation,"

Rachel said, her voice laced with worry.

Mrs. Smith nodded.

"I know, dear. But we have to focus on getting her to safety."

Rachel's eyes welled up with tears.

"I know I haven't always seen eye-to-eye with Elizabeth, but she's like a sister to me. I couldn't bear the thought of losing her."

Just then, the chairman entered the room, his expression stern.

"Rachel, would you excuse us for a moment?"

He requested.

Rachel nodded and stood up, casting a worried glance at Mrs. Smith before leaving.

The chairman's gaze turned icy as he faced Mrs. Smith.

"How could you let things get this far, Margaret?"

He demanded.

Mrs. Smith stood her ground.

"You're blaming me? You're the one who's been silent about Elizabeth's situation. You knew she was in danger and did nothing."

The chairman's face reddened.

"You don't understand the bigger picture, Margaret. Raymond's actions—"

Mrs. Smith cut him off.

"Raymond's actions? You mean the CEO of Middletown, your son? Does he even comprehend the chaos he's caused with that...that girl, Elizabeth?"

The chairman's glare intensified.

"You will not speak ill of my son, Margaret. This is all Elizabeth's fault. She manipulated Raymond, played on his emotions."

Mrs. Smith's voice rose.

"That's not true! Elizabeth is carrying your grandchild. Doesn't that mean anything to you?"

The chairman's expression softened slightly, but his tone remained cold.

"That's precisely why I must protect Raymond's interests. Elizabeth's actions will not ruin our family's reputation."

Mrs. Smith's eyes flashed with anger.

"Your family's reputation? What about Elizabeth's safety? What about your unborn grandchild?"

The chairman's face hardened.

"I'll handle this, Margaret. You just focus on keeping Elizabeth safe."

With that, he turned and left, leaving Mrs. Smith seething.

Rachel re-entered the room, concern etched on her face.

"What happened?"

Mrs. Smith took a deep breath.

"We'll get through this, Rachel. For Elizabeth's sake, and our family's."

Rachel's eyes clouded with worry.

"I wish we knew where Elizabeth was. I can feel she's in danger."
