As we prepared to move, I turned to Michael, concern etched on my face:
"Michael, are you okay? Is everyone...?"
My voice trailed off, darkness encroaching.
Michael's eyes widened as I collapsed into his arms.
"Elizabeth! Hang in there!"
He shouted, scooping me up.
Alex rushed to assist, but Michael waved him off:
"Take the offenders to the police station. I'll get her to the clinic."
Michael's voice remained calm, but his eyes betrayed worry.
He swiftly carried me to his car, settling me into the passenger seat.
As he drove, he dialed emergency services:
"This is Michael. I need an ambulance. Elizabeth's collapsing."
The dispatcher's voice crackled through the speaker:
"Estimated arrival time, five minutes."
Michael's gaze flicked to me:
"Hang on, Elizabeth. Help's coming."
I whispered, my vision blurring:
"Thank...you..."
Michael's jaw clenched:
"You're safe now. I've got you."
Sirens wailed in the distance, growing louder.
The clinic's lights flashed ahead, a beacon of hope.
Michael's arms cradled me, his voice soothing:
"You're going to be okay, Elizabeth."
As the paramedics rushed to assist, Michael's eyes never left mine:
"I won't leave your side."
Paramedics swiftly transferred me to a stretcher, their efficient hands checking my vitals.
Michael paced alongside, his face etched with concern.
"Elizabeth, can you hear me?"
A paramedic asked, shining a light into my eyes.
I nodded weakly.
"What's your name?"
"Eliz...abeth."
The paramedic smiled:
"Okay, Elizabeth. We're taking you to St. Michael's Hospital."
As they loaded me into the ambulance, Michael climbed aboard.
"Stay with me, Elizabeth,"
He urged, grasping my hand.
The sirens blared, the ambulance speeding through the night.
In the hospital, doctors and nurses swarmed around me, their urgent voices a blur.
Michael's grip on my hand remained firm.
