Lowkey big brother ares, nice ares, self-deprecating thoughts, implied beckendorf/percy

Percy's life in camp wasn't exactly what you would call 'normal'. Camp Half-Blood was a place where demigods could live a relatively normal life. For Percy, it wasn't like that.

The campers always glanced his way whenever he entered a room, and would make comments about him. Whether it was his looks, actions, or just the fact that he was there someone just had to comment.

Percy always pretended that said comments didn't affect him. He was the savior of Olympus, some comments made by some random campers shouldn't affect him, but not so deep down he knew they did. These comments only made his already low self esteem drop even lower. He felt as though he didn't belong at camp. He felt like he was an outcast in a camp of outcasts.

Percy sat on the cliff that he and Beckendorf would always go to. This was the only place he felt he could escape from all the lingering eyes and not so quiet whispers. He missed beckendorf. He was the only person he could talk to at camp that actually got him. Ever since he died Percy felt like no one really cared. No one but him. Everyone he tries to talk to about how he feels just doesn't understand. Not like Charlie did.

Percy sat there for hours just letting his mind wander, something that isn't really good when it comes to him. Percy did hear the crunching of the leaves as someone approached him, but he didn't care much. He didn't care if it was a camper who somehow found their way this deep into the woods, or a wandering monster that somehow got into camp. He just sat there looking out onto the ocean.

Percy just sat there as the footsteps crept closer and someone sat next to him. His face was void of emotion and his eyes were unfocused as this person sat next to them in silence for a couple of seconds.

"Something is terribly wrong with you." The person said

Percy recognized the voice. It was a voice that he couldn't quite forget. Not that he's heard it much, but the few times he has it always left a lasting impression. He turned his head to face the person and locked eyes with the one person who could push him over the ledge his subconscious was standing on.

Ares.

"Ares, I can't handle whatever it is you're here for right now." Percy said lowly

"What is it do you think I'm here for?" He asked

"The fuck do I know." He replied tiredly "All I know is every time I see you, you throw a hissy fit. Excuse me for thinking you're here to fight."

"What's the matter with you?" He asked "You're not usually like this."

"How would you know what I'm like?" He asked

"I know you don't like me, and you're convinced I don't like you, but I, as well as other gods, do look over you." Ares said

"You're saying that like they care." Percy said

"You really think you would be able to do all that you have with no godly intervention? There are people on Olympus that like you, adore you even. A lot of us are doing what we can to help you. Only if just a little bit." Ares said "So I ask again, what is the matter?"

"I don't belong here." Percy said quietly, barely above a whisper. Is Ares weren't a god with better hearing than mortals he likely wouldn't have heard it. "I don't know where I belong."

"I agree, you don't belong here." Ares said and Percy looks at him blankly

"You're not making me feel better." Percy said voice cracking slightly

"Perseus, you have always been a lot more godly than the other demigods. Most would write it off to you being a son of Poseidon, but it's really because you're one of the most powerful demigods in history. Naturally, that leads you to being more godly and thus more scary to the rest of the demigods."
