You and Peter walk hand in hand through the aisles of Target, a list of home supplies in your pocket. You needed a few essentials for your apartment: cleaning supplies, maybe some snacks, and a new set of towels. But what was supposed to be a simple, quick trip soon spiraled into chaos when Peter spotted the aisle dedicated to superhero merchandise, specifically Spider-Man.

“Wait—wait, is that…?” Peter suddenly stops, his eyes wide with excitement as he tugs on your hand, practically dragging you toward the display.

You roll your eyes, knowing exactly what caught his attention. Sure enough, there was a whole section filled with Spider-Man-themed baby clothes. Tiny onesies with the Spider-Man logo, little socks with web patterns, and even baby shoes that resembled Peter’s suit. Peter crouches down in front of a rack, holding up a bright red onesie in awe.

“Oh my God, look at this!” Peter exclaims, flipping the onesie around in his hands. His excitement is contagious, and you can’t help but smile at how thrilled he looks. “Can you imagine a little baby wearing this? Our baby?”

You blink, caught off guard by his comment. “Our baby?” you repeat, raising an eyebrow at him.

Peter looks up at you, a sheepish grin on his face, but his eyes are twinkling with mischief. “Yeah… I mean, come on, wouldn’t it be cute? A little mini Spider-Man crawling around? We could dress them up for Halloween. Look at these tiny shoes!” He holds up the smallest pair of Spider-Man shoes, his voice turning a bit more high-pitched with enthusiasm.

You bite back a laugh. “Peter, we’re not having a baby just because there are cute Spider-Man onesies.”

“But…” Peter stands up, holding the onesie close to his chest, his bottom lip jutting out into a pout. His eyes soften, and he gives you that familiar look that always makes your heart skip a beat—his signature puppy-dog eyes. “Please?”

You shake your head, though your smile betrays you. “Peter…”

He steps closer, gently tugging on your sleeve. “I’ll be the best dad ever. I’ll read them bedtime stories, teach them science stuff, and, you know, protect them from danger. I’m Spider-Man, after all.” He winks, but the sincerity in his voice makes your heart melt a little more.

“You’re unbelievable,” you mutter, feeling your resolve weaken.

Peter drops the onesie back on the rack and moves closer, resting his forehead against yours, his eyes still pleading. “We’d make an awesome team, babe. Just imagine—me, you, and a tiny little baby with Spider-Man socks.”

You let out a sigh, knowing full well that you’re on the verge of giving in. “Wait until graduation, Parker. We’re not having a baby before then.”

Suddenly, Peter’s face lights up like you just told him he won the lottery. “Graduation? That’s in, like, six months! I can totally wait six months.” He bounces on his heels, excitement radiating from him. “Yes! Six more months, I can’t wait!”

You roll your eyes playfully, turning your attention back to the items you actually came for. “We’ll see, Peter. Just because I said after graduation doesn’t mean we’re immediately having a baby.”

“Oh, I’m not forgetting this,” Peter says determinedly, grabbing a pack of Spider-Man socks and tossing them into your cart like they’re already meant for your future child. “I’ll remind you every single day until graduation.”

You laugh, shaking your head. “You’re impossible.”

“I prefer the term persistent,” he quips, giving you a cheeky grin.

As you continue walking down the aisles, Peter can’t stop grinning and sneaking glances at the baby section. His excitement is so palpable that you can’t help but tease him a little more.

“So, what’s the plan?” you ask, raising an eyebrow. “You’re gonna be a stay-at-home dad while I work?”

Peter’s eyes widen for a second, as if seriously considering the idea. “I mean, yeah. I’ll protect the city during the day, and when I’m not saving the world, I’ll be a full-time dad. I’ll even make lunches and do the dishes.”

“Wow,” you say, amused. “You’ve really thought this through, haven’t you?”

“Of course,” Peter says, feigning seriousness. “I’m very responsible, and you know how good I am with kids.”

You laugh, but Peter leans in closer, his voice softer, a little more serious now. “I really do want that with you someday. You know that, right?”

The sincerity in his voice takes you by surprise, and you feel a flutter in your chest. Peter always had a way of switching from playful to heartfelt in the blink of an eye, and it always caught you off guard.

“I know,” you say softly, giving his hand a squeeze. “And maybe someday. Just… let’s get through the next few months first.”

Peter nods, a smile tugging at the corners of his lips again. “Deal.”

As you move on to grab the rest of the items on your list, Peter’s excitement still lingers in the air, and you can’t help but glance back at the Spider-Man baby section. Maybe, just maybe, someday, Peter’s dream of a little one running around in those Spider-Man socks wouldn’t be such a far-off idea after all.

Before you leave the store, Peter sneaks one last look at the baby onesies and grins at you. “Just you wait,” he says with a wink, “six months from now, I’ll be ready.”

You roll your eyes one more time, but there’s a warmth in your chest that tells you you’re both looking forward to the future—whatever it may bring.
