The night had settled in, its calming embrace barely soothing the bruises and cuts on Peter's body. You sat at the edge of your bed, focusing on gently cleaning a gash on his arm. The familiar blue-and-red fabric of his Spider-Man suit was peeled back just enough to reveal the injury, the rest of the suit lying in a pile on the floor. Peter winced slightly as you applied antiseptic, but his usual goofy grin still played on his lips.

"You don't have to act all tough," you teased, brushing your fingers lightly over the bandage you had just applied. "You're not in front of a camera."

Peter chuckled, the sound soft and loving. "Maybe not, but I gotta keep up appearances for my favorite medic."

You rolled your eyes, but the small smile tugging at your lips betrayed your fondness. "You're lucky I love you."

He leaned in, kissing your forehead. "Lucky doesn't even begin to cover it."

Just as you were about to apply the last bandage to a particularly nasty cut on his side, you heard the soft padding of tiny feet approaching. Your breath caught as you turned, spotting your five-year-old son, Ben, standing in the doorway. His hair was ruffled from sleep, his eyes wide and curious.

"Mommy? Daddy?" Ben's small voice cut through the quiet of the room, his gaze locked on Peter, or more specifically, on the Spider-Man suit lying on the floor next to him.

Your heart skipped a beat. Peter froze.

"Oh no..." Peter whispered under his breath.

You exchanged a glance with Peter, both of you mentally scrambling for an explanation. Ben's eyes darted between the suit and his father, confusion clouding his expression.

"Why... why is Daddy wearing a Spider-Man costume?" Ben asked, taking a few steps forward, the awe in his voice unmistakable. "Is Daddy friends with Spider-Man?"

Peter swallowed, clearly caught off guard. You quickly stood up, moving to gently intercept your son. "Hey, buddy, you should be in bed. What are you doing awake?"

Ben rubbed his eyes sleepily, but his gaze remained fixed on the suit. "I had a bad dream... but why is Daddy dressed like that?"

Peter let out a soft sigh, knowing the time had come. He sat up a little straighter, still wincing from the pain but trying to appear calm. "Come here, kiddo," Peter said, his voice soft and gentle.

Ben hesitated for a moment before slowly walking over to Peter. You stayed close, your heart pounding in your chest as Peter took a deep breath.

"Ben," Peter began, taking his son's small hand in his. "There's something I've been meaning to tell you for a long time, but I wanted to wait until you were a little older."

Ben's eyes widened, his curiosity piqued. "What is it, Daddy?"

Peter glanced at you, silently seeking your approval, and you gave him a small nod. He returned his attention to Ben, who was staring up at him with big, innocent eyes.

"You know how you really, really love Spider-Man?" Peter asked.

Ben nodded eagerly, his face lighting up at the mention of his favorite superhero. "Yeah! Spider-Man is the best! He's super strong, and fast, and he saves everyone!"

Peter smiled, though there was a trace of nervousness behind it. "Well, buddy... the reason I know so much about Spider-Man... is because... I am Spider-Man."

Ben blinked, his mouth falling open as his brain worked to process the information. "You're... you're Spider-Man?"

Peter gave a small, sheepish smile and nodded. "That's right, Benji. I'm Spider-Man."

For a moment, Ben just stared at Peter, his little brows furrowed in concentration. He glanced at the suit, then back at his father, his small hands gripping Peter's knee. Then, all at once, his face broke into a huge grin.

"You're Spider-Man?!" Ben squealed, bouncing on his toes with excitement. "That's so cool! My daddy is Spider-Man!"

The pure joy and awe in Ben's voice made you laugh softly, and Peter's nervousness melted away. He chuckled, ruffling Ben's messy hair. "Yeah, buddy, I'm Spider-Man. But you have to promise me something, okay?"

Ben nodded enthusiastically, his eyes shining with excitement. "Anything, Daddy!"

Peter leaned down, bringing his face closer to Ben's. "You can't tell anyone. Not your friends at school, not anyone. This has to be our secret, okay?"

Ben's face grew serious as he nodded solemnly. "I promise, Daddy. I won't tell anybody! I'll keep your secret."

Peter smiled, relief washing over him. "That's my boy."

You watched the scene unfold, warmth blooming in your chest. It was a moment you had feared for so long, unsure of how Ben would react. But seeing him so proud, so in awe of his father, filled you with nothing but love.

Ben climbed into Peter's lap, carefully avoiding his bandaged side, and started peppering him with questions. "Can you swing from buildings, Daddy? How does the webs work? Can I have a suit like yours when I grow up?"

Peter chuckled, wrapping his arms around his son. "One question at a time, buddy."

You sat down beside them, resting your head on Peter's shoulder. "I think you've got a little fan for life now," you whispered, smiling as Ben excitedly recounted his favorite Spider-Man moments to Peter.

Peter turned his head and pressed a kiss to your temple. "I think I do, too."

The three of you sat together in the warmth of your home, the secret no longer weighing on your hearts. Ben's small hand was clutching Peter's, his eyes bright with dreams of webs and heroics.

As Peter pulled Ben closer, his arms wrapped protectively around his little boy, you couldn't help but think how lucky your son was. Not because his dad was Spider-Man, but because he had Peter Parker as his father-a man full of love, courage, and a heart bigger than any superhero could ever dream of.

And in that moment, as Ben slowly drifted back to sleep in Peter's arms, the room filled with a soft, comforting silence. You leaned into Peter, knowing that, together, the three of you were stronger than any secret or superhero title.

Because at the end of the day, that's what family was-love, trust, and a little bit of web-slinging on the side.
