DSF: "Daddy Issues"

Chapter 21: Spell on You

"So what do we do now?" Ethan said as they all stood around staring at the fiery barrier.

"Jay!" Evie exclaimed as Jay reached out to touch the flames.

"It's harmless," he said stepping forward.

"From fairytale history, Hades made a deal with Hercules that he wouldn't harm Meg, maybe he made a similar deal with Hope," Ethan said.

"That would explain a lot," Evie said. "Then we have to be a key to bringing her back too."

Carlos frowned, "I don't know...she still feels hot to me." He had a hand over Lia's arm as Jay held her. As he tapped it, he barely had enough time to move as a small flame lit from the spot. "Why can only Jay touch her?"

"Well, the volunteer committee did give him more of a chance to bond with her than any of us," Evie said, "he probably earned his trust back." Dre stared at Jay holding Lia in his arms. She understood clearly why Lia tasked her with the job of taking her down and not him. Unlike her sister, Jay has blind faith in Hope. He wouldn't be capable of turning against her.

"We should get her to the castle," Jay said, "maybe, Mal or fairy Godmother could try something to give Lia her body back."

With Mal

She couldn't concentrate on the book of spells in front of her because all she could think of was her sister. The amount of magic she had to use to protect all of Auradon from that tsunami made her feel more insecure than before. She knew her parent's love wasn't Lia's choice to monopolize and yet, she couldn't help it. She wanted to be mad at her and maybe, because it was easier to be mad at her than to feel guilt over what her life had turned her sister's into. She was the difference of making Lia untouchable. And now, Lia was lost and yet, she's still protecting everyone. Why does it seem like her sister has perfected being good while she's always wondering and struggling to find what's the right thing? It was clear she wasn't good for her sister and her sister wasn't good for her. The best thing for either of them would probably be distance. After all, it just took Mal being away for her sister to conquer the Isle and put it under Uma's control. Imagine all the things Lia could do if Mal just stayed away.

With Lia's Body

"Well, if Lia's spirit is being suppressed by Hades, then the only thing I could think of is a transference spell," Fairy Godmother said tapping her fingertips with her wand in thought. "We send Jay in since clearly he has the connection with her as he's able to break the barrier."

"And what do I do once I'm in there?" Jay asked still holding Lia's hand as he laid in bed worried about losing the ability to reach passed her barrier.

"You encourage her, you give her spirit," Fairy Godmother said, "whatever she needs to face her father's domination over her. Now, lay down and hold onto her. I'll be sending you in." Jay laid next to Lia and with a wave of her hand and the magic words "Bibbidi Boppity Boo" Jay fell into a sleep state.

It seemed like an instant that Jay closed his eyes and suddenly he was in a dark desolate cave.  Everything d by bright blue flames that gave the area a menacing hue. Shadows danced all around him and Jay's hairs on his neck prickled up as if something would jump out at him any second. He's never been in Lia's mind before, but he never thought it'd look something like this. How deep down has Hades buried her. The cold dreading feeling in the air sent chills down Jay's spine.

"Lia?" Jay called out for her. "Lia!" He walked around carefully looking around each corner. This place seemed big. How on earth was he supposed to find her? The cave split in two by a river. It had a blue glow and weird white mist like substance in it. No, wait...not mist. As Jay looked at it closer, he could see spirits floating in the current. He quickly stepped back as a transparent hand tried to reach for his ankle. He suddenly heard sniffling and whimpers. What was that?
