spending quality time on bunker

The days stretched into weeks, and the group settled into a routine in the bunker. It was a strange feeling—almost like they had carved out a small pocket of normalcy in an otherwise broken world. Meals were shared, duties were divided, and each day brought a little more hope that they could make this place a home.

Zach, however, couldn’t shake the nagging feeling that the peace wouldn’t last forever. It was the kind of calm that always came before a storm.

One night, after everyone had turned in, Zach found himself wandering the darkened corridors of the bunker. His mind was heavy with thoughts of the future—of how long they could survive here, of what dangers still lurked beyond their walls. His footsteps echoed softly against the concrete floors as he made his way toward the roof, needing some fresh air to clear his head.

When he opened the door to the roof, he wasn’t surprised to see Anastasia already there, leaning against the railing, her green eyes gazing up at the stars. She had always been a night owl, finding comfort in the quiet moments when the rest of the world was asleep.

“You always know where to find me,” she said without turning around, sensing his presence before he even spoke.

Zach smiled and walked over to her, standing beside her as he looked up at the sky. “It’s like you’re drawn to the stars,” he said, his voice soft. “Every time I come up here, you’re already here.”

Anastasia glanced at him with a small smile. “Maybe I’m just drawn to the quiet. It’s the only time I feel like I can think.”

Zach leaned against the railing, his shoulder brushing hers. “What are you thinking about?”

“Everything,” she replied, her voice barely above a whisper. “The future. What we’ve lost. What we might still lose.”

Zach didn’t say anything for a moment, letting the weight of her words hang in the air. He understood exactly what she meant. Even though they had survived this long, there was always the fear that one day, it could all be taken away. It was a reality they faced every single day.

But then, he reached out and took her hand in his, giving it a gentle squeeze. “We’ve made it this far, Ana. We’ll keep making it. Together.”

She looked down at their joined hands and then up at him, her green eyes shining in the moonlight. “I don’t know what I’d do without you, Zach.”

“You won’t have to find out,” he said, his voice firm. “I’m not going anywhere.”

Anastasia’s gaze softened, and she turned to face him fully, her fingers still intertwined with his. There was a vulnerability in her eyes that he hadn’t seen in a long time—a reminder that beneath her strength and determination, she was still human. And like him, she was afraid.

Slowly, she reached up with her free hand and cupped his cheek, her thumb brushing lightly against his skin. “I don’t tell you this enough, but I love you, Zach. More than anything.”

Zach’s heart skipped a beat at her words. He had always known how she felt, but hearing her say it out loud, especially in a moment like this, made his chest tighten with emotion. He reached up, covering her hand with his, and leaned into her touch.

“I love you too,” he said, his voice thick with emotion. “You’re everything to me, Ana.”

For a moment, they just stood there, holding each other’s gaze, the world around them fading away. Then, without a word, Anastasia closed the distance between them and kissed him. It was a slow, tender kiss—one that spoke of all the things they had been through together, all the fears and hopes they shared.

Zach wrapped his arms around her, pulling her closer as he deepened the kiss. In that moment, nothing else mattered. Not the zombies, not the dangers that lurked outside, not the uncertainty of the future. All that mattered was the two of them, here, in this quiet moment beneath the stars.

When they finally pulled apart, Anastasia rested her forehead against his, her breath mingling with his in the cool night air.

“No matter what happens,” she whispered, her voice barely audible, “we’ll face it together.”

“Always,” Zach replied, his voice steady.

The next morning, the bunker was alive with activity as the group prepared for another supply run. Jungkook and Aradhya were packing their gear near the entrance, their playful banter filling the air. Mei, who had become more confident over the past few weeks, was helping to organize the supplies, while Yeong Do made sure the maps were up to date.

Anastasia and Zach stood off to the side, discussing their strategy for the day. As they talked, Anastasia couldn’t help but notice the subtle glances Jungkook and Aradhya exchanged, the way their hands would brush against each other when they thought no one was looking. It was clear that their bond had grown stronger, just like hers and Zach’s.

“They’re cute together, aren’t they?” Anastasia remarked with a smile, nodding toward the couple.

Zach glanced over at Jungkook and Aradhya, a smirk playing at his lips. “Yeah, I’ve seen it coming for a while. They’re good for each other.”

Anastasia’s smile widened as she looked up at him. “Kind of like us, huh?”

Zach chuckled and wrapped an arm around her shoulders, pulling her close. “Yeah. Exactly like us.”

Their moment was interrupted when Jungkook called out to them, his voice light with humor. “Are you two going to stop being all lovey-dovey and help us pack, or should we just leave you behind?”

Anastasia laughed, shaking her head. “We’re coming, we’re coming.”

As they joined the others, the mood was light, almost carefree. But deep down, Zach knew that this peace wouldn’t last forever. The world outside the bunker was still dangerous, and every run for supplies carried the risk of disaster.

But for now, they had each other. And as long as they held on to that, they could face whatever came next.

Later that day, the group set out on their supply run, moving cautiously through the abandoned streets. The city had become a ghost town, with only the occasional distant groan of a zombie breaking the silence. The once-bustling streets were now filled with debris, overturned cars, and the remnants of a world that had been left behind.

As they made their way through the desolate landscape, Zach stayed close to Anastasia, his hand never straying far from hers. Every now and then, he would glance over at her, and she would smile back at him, a silent reminder that they were in this together.

Jungkook and Aradhya walked a few paces ahead, their hands brushing occasionally as they moved. Mei and Yeong Do brought up the rear, their eyes scanning the area for any signs of danger.

It wasn’t long before they reached the outskirts of the city, where they had heard rumors of a potential cache of supplies. The building they were heading for was an old warehouse, half-collapsed but still standing enough to offer some protection from the elements.

As they approached the entrance, Zach felt a familiar sense of unease settle in his chest. Something didn’t feel right.

“Stay sharp,” he muttered under his breath, his hand instinctively tightening around the handle of his machete.

Anastasia nodded, her green eyes scanning the area. “I’ve got your back.”

With a nod, the group moved inside, their footsteps echoing in the cavernous space. The air was thick with dust, and the faint smell of decay lingered in the air. But despite the eerie silence, there was no immediate sign of danger.

For now.
