Snowflakes drifted lazily from the overcast sky, blanketing the world in a soft white layer. The air was crisp and filled with the joyful sounds of laughter. Saori squealed in delight as she played in the fresh powder, her cheeks flushed a rosy pink from the cold.

Saori: Puppies!

She exclaimed, her eyes sparkling as she frolicked with Megumi's Divine Dogs, who bounded through the snow, their powerful forms gliding effortlessly. Saori rolled on the ground, giggling as the dogs pounced on her, their furry bodies leaving imprints in the snow.

On a nearby bench, Satoru and Megumi sat watching the scene unfold. Satoru leaned back casually, a content smile on his face.

Satoru: I see you and Saori are finally becoming close friends.

He remarked, his tone light but carrying a hint of pride.

Megumi shrugged, his expression neutral but a hint of a smile tugging at the corners of his lips: She's okay for a girl.

He replied, trying to sound indifferent, but there was an undeniable warmth in his voice.

Satoru chuckled softly as he ruffled Megumi's hair affectionately.

Satoru: Coming from you, that's a compliment.

He teased, knowing how Megumi could be around others, especially girls.

But then, the atmosphere shifted. Satoru's playful demeanor faded as he turned serious, his eyes narrowing slightly.

Satoru: Listen, Megumi. When we go back to Japan, you and Tsumiki can't talk about Saori to anyone. It's for her safety.

He said, his voice firm but not unkind.

Megumi looked puzzled, trying to grasp the weight of Satoru's words.

Megumi: But... why?

He asked, brow furrowing in confusion. He wanted to understand but couldn't quite connect the dots.

Satoru sighed, the gravity of their situation pressing down on him: We'll talk about it later, just trust me. It's important.

Megumi nodded slowly, still unsure but willing to follow Satoru's lead: Will we ever come here again after this?

Satoru glanced out at Saori, who was now pulling snow from the dogs' fur with laughter echoing in the air: We'll see.

Just then, Saori noticed them sitting idly on the bench, and a mischievous grin spread across her face. Without warning, she scooped up a handful of snow and packed it into a ball.

Saori: Hey, quit sitting around!

She yelled playfully, her eyes glinting with challenge.

Before Megumi could respond, she launched the snowball at him, and it hit him squarely in the chest.

He looked stunned for a moment before breaking into a grin: Oh, it's on!

He shouted, quickly gathering snow and retaliating with his own snowball.

The two erupted into a flurry of laughter as they chased each other through the snow, dodging and throwing snowballs, their playful shrieks filling the air.

Satoru watched them with a soft smile, the weight of his responsibilities momentarily lifted. In this small moment, he felt a sense of peace wash over him, grateful to see them just being kids—carefree, unburdened, and filled with joy.

Present day...

After a long day of battling curses, Yuji and Megumi leaned against the wall outside a convenience store, waiting for Ijichi to pick them up. The sun had dipped below the horizon, leaving the streets awash in neon lights.
