The doorbell sounds again, someone's at the door. Lynn checks her side, Jenna is still fast asleep. "Maybe I should wait until they leave." Lynn thinks. So she lies there, listening to the doorbell for minutes. Lynn sighs "They really aren't leaving, fuck." She thinks. Lynn rubs her eyes before slowly and carefully pulling Jenna off of her. She stands up while listening to the impatient sound of the doorbell. She grabs a bathrobe in the corner of Jenna's room and walks downstairs yawning. "This better be important." She whispers to herself.
Lynn fixes her hair slightly before taking a deep breath and opening the door. "Good evening Lynn." Jenna's mom stands there. Jenna's god damn mom is right here, at one in the morning on the doorstep. "What do you want?" Lynn is irritated the moment she sets eyes on Jenna's mom. "I- I- I need to speak to Jenna." "She is asleep, and anything you want to tell her you can tell to me." "I really do think I should say this to her." "No, you listen up here. Everything you've told Jenna these past few days have been terrible, heartbreaking and you have been tearing her down. Now I will hear you out, for Jenna and with the last pieces of respect I have for you. But the moment you start talking shit this door closes and so does your connection to Jenna, I'll make sure of that." "I- I know. I wanted to tell Jenna that I talked to her dad, and her siblings. At first I told what happened from my side, and well. They told me I was in the wrong, they had never done that. And, it turns out that...they don't agree with me, they were scared of me. Too scared to stand up to me." Her voice cracks "My own family is scared of me. I don't want that." Jenna's mother starts crying, actually crying. "Well I am sorry miss Ortega, but after what you did to Jenna can you blame them? You basically disowned your daughter for being successful, just because you thought that she felt better than you?" "I know, I know, I know, I know." Jenna's mom puts her hands on her head. "I ruined her life, I feel terrible. And I don't want to lose her." She cries. Lynn...doesn't know what to think, it sounds genuine, but after this afternoon, what she said and did. This sudden of a turn around feels off. "Why now? After Jenna started with her career you have always been an asshole towards her, why the sudden change?" Lynn asks softly. "I- I don't want my own family to be scared of me. Most importantly I don't want to lose them. I know I did wrong, so very wrong. But...I want to apologize." Jenna's mom looks at Lynn, Lynn can tell...this is real, she is sorry. "I don't think now is the right time." Lynn says "I will tell Jenna about this in the morning. But I don't think this will stop us from moving." "I understand, I just want Jenna to be happy. I can tell she is happy with you. Please take care of her while I try my best to make up for everything I ever did wrong." "I will, I will always be there for her." Lynn says. She then hears a soft: "Sure." "What was that?" "Well come on, you to have only been together for like a week, known each other for two." Lynn steps back and grabs the door, ready to close it. "You know what." Lynn holds the door "No, you are going to hear this. I plan on marrying Jenna, I plan on being with her until the end of our life. I plan on taking care of her, listening to her and talking with her when she needs it. I am going to love the fuck out of this woman and I will show her that every day. I will tell her I love her, kiss her, hug her until I physically can't anymore. I love this woman more than I have ever, or will, loved anyone. This is the most perfect girl in this entire world, I am lucky to be with her and I will spend every day being grateful for Jenna. Now I hope to see you again on other terms. Goodnight." And then Lynn closes the door.
"Fuck." Lynn wipes away a tear. "I got a little carried away." She chuckles to herself. "But I just couldn't let that go. It's good that she is finally seeing how messed up she was, but doubting my love for Jenna is not going to pass." She thinks to herself. Lynn slowly walks upstairs, adrenaline pumping through her body. But the moment she walks into the bedroom, seeing Jenna laying there. Lynn is calm, she is happy. The world is right. Lynn carefully crawls back into Jenna's arms and stares at the ceiling. Before she knows it, Lynn is falling back asleep.
An alarm goes off, Jenna's phone. That's right, they have to get up early to pack. "Hmmmmm." Jenna groans. "Good morning." She whispers "Good morning, ready to get going?" Lynn asks. "Kind off, I am really going to miss this place. But god I also can't wait to move in with you." Jenna chipperly says, Lynn really hates to get in between that, but she has to. "Hey Jenna?" "Yeah?" "I got woken up by the doorbell tonight and...well it was your mom." "What? Oh my god what did she say." Jenna says angerly. "Well, actually...it was good." "Huh?" "She talked to your dad and siblings, they finally told her that she was messed up for saying and doing all those things, turns out all of them were too scared to stand up to her." "Really...even my dad?" "I guess so. But she wanted to apologize. She said that she didn't want to lose you, she does care for you Jenna." "I- I don't know." "I didn't either at first, but the look on her face, I could tell she meant it. And she did doubt 'us'." "Of course she did, I couldn't expect anything else honestly." "Yeah me neither. But I made sure to tell her how much I love you before closing the door on her." Lynn gets out of bed with a stretch. "Thanks, I'm sorry you have to deal with her." "It's alright, I like telling people how much I love you." Lynn grins, walking towards the closet for her suitcase, trying to imagine how the hell she is going to pack this again. Jenna gets the biggest suitcase she can find and brings it into her closet. "Okay, we have about three hours of packing and getting everything else and then we should get going." Jenna says, picking out some of her favorite clothes. "Sounds good." Lynn smiles, this is actually happening, wow. It seems like yesterday that her microwave broke, well it wasn't too long ago but these two weeks have felt like two years. It is amazing what happened in that time and Lynn can't believe they've gotten this far. The two of them met each other; went out; fell in love and are now moving in together, knowing that they want to be together for the rest of their lives. Lynn feels so much love for Jenna, but she can also feel the love back. She has never felt love like this before and that's why she knows this is true, lasting.
Lynn and Jenna pack and talk about Lynn's place, what they'll need to replace and stuff. Lynn is really just paranoid that she is forgetting something but she'll come back here again anyways. For now she should look at the road ahead. Focus on the futere, the future with her girlfriend. It's time make life fun, exciting. But with Jenna that won't be an issue. With how she appeared in her life, Lynn won't ever have a boring day again. Once done packing their clothes. Lynn helps Jenna gather all the other important things she want's to take right now. One of those being a particularly suggestive pair of underwear which she made sure to explain to Lynn for what it was. Of course she did.
"Alright, this is it. Are you ready." Lynn asks. "Well, ready. I don't know. This is a lot. But I am still going to do it, we will." Jenna says, putting on her shoes. "And that is why I love you." "I love you too." Jenna smiles. "Let's start our life together, at home." "I can't wait." Jenna smiles back. The world out there seems so big, so full of opportunity but so scary. But Lynn doesn't care, not matter where she goes, who she comes across or what happens. She knows she has Jenna by her side. "Okay, here we go." Lynn grabs Jenna's hand. Jenna takes it tightly and with the other hand her suitcase. "You're my everything Jenna." "You are my home Lynn." And with that they step foot into the world, now together and never to be separated again. Together through the journey of life. And how could it not be great. They have each other.
Together forever.
