A Special Appearance

Chapter 7

 They leave the building and walk around the corner; they follow the street until they're standing in front of the same restaurant they met yesterday. Lynn leads the way in the building and to the same table they sat at yesterday. They talk and laugh a little before the waiter brings over the menu with a smile, she hands both of them one and they both give a nod of appreciation. "Oh and before I forget, we have a new couples special if you guys are interested." The waiter says. Lynn's eyes shoot over at Jenna to try and signal that she can't pull the same trick as in the uber. Jenna only returns a quick mischievous glance. "Oh that sounds interesting, what is it?" Jenna asks with a grin, Lynn knows that she is acting but it is impossible to see. "Well you will get our special love sandwiches with a warm cup of coffee and a little gift for you guys after." The waiter tells them with a wide smile. As Jenna looks over at Lynn pretending to think Lynn tries to subtly shake her head. "That sounds great! Well take that then." Jenna says exited as she hands the menu back to the waiter, Lynn follows but she keeps her narrowed eyes on Jenna who is just happily smirking back at her. As soon as the waiter leaves Lynn speaks up "Jenna! What the hell did I tell you!" she says trying to be sort of quiet. Jenna laughs and looks at Lynn who is still staring her down. "Listen Lynn, we had the opportunity to get a meal which would be cheaper than both of us ordering food and drinks. Plus I like to see you squirm." She says after calming down but still with her beautiful smile. "Ok fine, this is the last time we will ever act to be in a relationship." Lynn says defeated as she looks outside at the people strolling by. "Act?" Jenna then asks. Lynn looks over at her and she is grinning from ear to ear, Lynn just smiles and rolls her eyes at her. They don't talk for a while until Lynn sees the waiter approach with two plates, she taps Jenna's hand who then also sees it. Then out of nowhere Lynn can feel Jenna grab her hand, she looks up at Jenna but she just winks back. The waiter puts one plate down in front of Jenna and then one in front of Lynn. On the plates lie heart shaped sandwiches with rose petals sprinkled around it and in it stands a thin stick with a paper heart on top of it. "Wow this looks great!" Lynn says when the waiter leaves. "Not as great as you." Jenna says, a shock gets send through Lynn's body but it ultimately stops in her chest, almost in the exact place she felt that warm but somehow still empty feeling before. Then right before she says something the waiter puts down to cups of coffee with a heart in the foam. Jenna thanks the waiter but Lynn is in deep tough. "Was she saying it to me? Or was it just because she wanted the waiter to think we're a couple?" She thinks.

"Wow this is delicious!" Lynn hears from across the table, as she looks up she sees Jenna hungerly comping down her sandwich. Lynn giggles, but she didn't really find it funny but she still felt like giggling. "Not hungry all of a sudden? Or is something on your mind?" Jenna asks with a full mouth. "No I'm ok, I was just thinking." Lynn says before taking a bite of the heart shaped sandwich that was lying in front of her, Jenna was right- it was amazing! "Oh, what about then?" Jenna asks as she puts down her sandwich that's already half-eaten. She takes a sip of coffee and Lynn can see her close her eyes, this gives Lynn a good opportunity to think of a lie that makes sense. "N- nothing, just life you know." Lynn mutters out after a few seconds. "Oh yeah? And how is life going then?" Jenna asks after putting down her coffee, she has a slight smirk on her face as she looks back up at Lynn. "Good I guess." Lynn says with hesitation. She knows that she has been having a great time with Jenna but she doesn't want to give her the satisfaction of admitting it so Jenna can make another one of her teasing jokes that Lynn hates but also sort of likes in some weird kind of way. "Oh only good? That's all?" Jenna says as she lays a hand on her chest pretending to be offended. "Oh what am I supposed to say? Oh my god I met Jenna Ortega and the world is beautiful and life is better than ever." Lynn says sarcastic even tho it does feel like that is the actual truth. Jenna laughs and Lynn can't help but join her. Lynn finally gets the chance to try the coffee which is even better than the sandwich. Lynn should remind herself to come her more often because she really enjoys the food and the style of this place. They sit in silence for a while as they're both enjoying the food and looking out over the people passing by outside of the window. Jenna finishes her plate first and then sits back to enjoy the last of her coffee, Lynn can feel her watching how she eats her sandwich but she just ignores it and also finishes the last bites of her sandwich. After wiping her mouth with the napkin next to the plate Lynn looks up to see Jenna staring he right in the eyes. "What?" Lynn asks confused to Jenna who seems like she has been sitting in the same position for the last few minutes to stare her down. "Oh nothing. I was just thinking." Jenna says casually as she puts down her now empty cup. "Ah I get it, you still want to know what I was thinking about huh?" Lynn says with a smirk before taking a sip of coffee. "Of course I do, I hate this secretive stuff. Just get it over with and tell me!" Jenna says with curiosity. "I don't hate it, so I don't need to get anything over with." Lynn says as she feels like she has the upper hand for once in their back and forward teasing. "Oh come on Lynn! Just tell me!" Jenna asks as she tries to use puppy eyes to convince Lynn, Lynn can't admit she looks really cute like that but she can't say that she has had two of the greatest days in a long while. "I'm sorry but no, just drop it ok?" Lynn says sternly while looking away. Jenna sighs and stops with her puppy eyes. "Oh come on cheer up, why don't we use the rest of this afternoon to go shopping for a while." Lynn suggests after finishing her own coffee. As she sees Jenna spark up she waves one of the waiters for the bill. When the waiter walks away to get the bill for them Lynn looks back over to Jenna who is smiling happily from across the table. "I'd love that! And I could see more of your city too." Jenna says exited. Lynn smiles and pulls out her wallet to search for her credit card. "Wow wow, what do you think you are doing?" Jenna asks as Lynn pulls out her card. "Paying." Lynn responds confused. "No I'm paying, you already let me stay at your house for a week the least I can do is get dinner." Jenna says before pulling out her own wallet. "Jenna, that really isn't necessary." Lynn says with a huff while shaking her head slightly. "Yes it is, I will pay!" Jenna says determined. "Are we really doing this?" Lynn asks as she heard this discussion so many times on tv or in movies. Jenna stares at her with a determined look and Lynn knows Jenna won't give up until she gets to pay so Lynn puts her wallet back into her pocket. Jenna smiles and when the waiter comes with the bill she pays happily. The waiter clears of their table as she leaves and Lynn can feel Jenna look at her while she stands up and puts her coat on. "What is it now Jenna?" Lynn asks sighing without making eye contact. "N- nothing." Jenna says before hastily putting her own coat on. Lynn can hear in her voice that this wasn't the same as before, something is actually on her mind- maybe even bothering her. Before they walk out Lynn turns to Jenna with a serious expression. "Jenna, if anything is on your mind you can tell me, you know that right." She asks while putting her hand on Jenna's shoulder. "I know, thank you Lynn." Jenna says without looking at her. Lynn knows that something is wrong but it isn't her business, but her curious mind can't help but go crazy while theorizing what's on Jenna's mind. "Is it me? Did I do something? Did I not do something?" but she shakes the thoughts away before walking outside with Jenna in the lead.
