Rolus ended up staying way past his intended time to leave. He and Luke went back to bed after having their breakfast. Rolus couldn't stop being close to his mate. His nightmare last night made him cling to Luke. Luke did notice, but he indulged him.

So they spent hours in bed, Rolus continued talking about the years Luke lost. He mentioned the time Luke thought he found his mate, Le-anne.

"Wait, let me get this straight. So you watched me fall for the girl whilst knowing -"

"You did not fall for her. Let's get that straight."

"As I was saying, you watched me fall for the girl, knowing very well she's not my mate. And then you -"

"But I warned you many times that she's not your mate. You wouldn't listen to me," Rolus argued, his grip on Luke's hand tightening a bit.

"In the end, she was from Dangerous Valley and was taking advantage of the fact that I can't sense my mate, right?"

Rolus nodded, a bit unsettled when he remembered Le-anne. At that time, he didn't mind her, but when he thought of her claiming to be Luke's mate, a deep hatred for her burned him.

"And then you went and dated the Alpha that wanted to kill us," Rolus continued, still annoyed about that Perez.

"Oh, come on. I'm sure it just happened. You've been telling me about how I dated Perez. It's not like we were together when I was dating him," Luke said, sitting up on the bed.

Rolus shrugged, still bitter about their relationship. He remembered it clear as day when he first put together that the two were seeing each other. It was when he saw Perez in that hotel moments after he saw Luke driving out of the perimeter.

"Did you do it to spite me?" he asked Luke. He always wondered why Luke would date Perez. He never got the chance to ask him or really put up a good explanation for that.

Luke gave him a glare. "I don't even remember what the guy looks like or my relationship with him. Don't be jealous."

Rolus stuttered over his words, trying to deny that. He was not jealous. He just felt uneasy about their relationship. "I'm not jealous."

"Yes, you are," Luke said, kissing his cheek and then getting off the bed.

Rolus thought Luke wanted to distract him from the supposed jealousy he had. It worked because all he thought about was his lips on his cheek.

He didn't want to go back to his Pack when Luke was there with him. He didn't want to go back. He just wanted to rot away with his mate.

When Luke came back from the bathroom, he raised a brow at Rolus. "What are you still doing in bed? I thought you were leaving."

"Are you chasing me away?" he asked, smiling when Luke came on the bed and got on top of him, hands on either side of Rolus' head.

"I'm not. If your Pack won't be mad at me for keeping you all day, then you're welcome to stay. Do you want to stay?"

I didn't even have time to reply before he kissed me. Of course, I couldn't even think straight when Luke was kissing me like that.

Sierra sighed when Rolus sneaked back to the Pack at ten in the night. He had used the back door that led straight to his room, but Sierra was waiting for him in his kitchen.

"What are you doing here?" he asked, embarrassed that he came at this time when he was supposed to be back hours ago.

Sierra was not even mad. She was just tired because it's been a long day for her. "I was waiting for you to come back."

Rolus rubbed the back of his neck, sitting down opposite Sierra. He couldn't even look at her because he was ashamed of being this whipped.

"I've scheduled a meeting with those affected families. I wanted to hear what date would be suitable for your mate," she said, drinking from the cup she had on the table.

If he could, Rolus would groan. He didn't want his mate being subjected to the scrutiny of his Pack. He knew Luke was supposed to apologize, but he felt the need to protect him. It was selfish of him wanting to put Luke first instead of the Pack, but he couldn't help but want to do that.

"Next week?" he suggested. That way, he gave his mate enough time to prepare.

"It's Monday today, Rolus. How about this Wednesday? We can't keep dragging this. The sooner we get this over with, the sooner we will be able to break the news to the Pack about the merger. And please make sure your mate behaves. Already our Pack is mad at him. He must not antagonise them."

Rolus knew this, but still. He didn't want his Pack tearing into Luke. "Thursday?"

Sierra narrowed her eyes, seeing into what Rolus was doing. "Wednesday, Rolus. I'm doing this for you two so that you can be together in one place instead of leaving your Pack to be vulnerable while you're there at his Pack."

Rolus sighed, hating that he was putting his mate first before his Pack. As a leader, he felt so bad that he was putting his needs first.

What about the woman who lost his mate? A mother who lost his son?

"Please schedule it for tomorrow. I'll talk to Luke," he said, already feeling his chest ache with the distance from his mate. He rubbed his chest, the discomfort a bit unsettling.

Sierra softened when she realized that Rolus was hurting. "Don't you want to go back to him? You'll come back with him tomorrow."

Rolus didn't even try to argue with her. He just stood up, walked to her side and hugged her from behind, then kissed the top of her head."You're the best. I promise we'll be here at eight in the morning."

He let go, then walked away before Sierra could throw the cup his way. She hated people messing with her hair.

He used the same door he came through, then went back to his mate.
