When Rolus told Luke that they should go to his Pack, he didn't get a response. But he felt Luke's irritation through the bond. He didn't know if the irritation was from being disturbed or he could tell that he was not welcome at Creek Pack.

Rolus ran his hand through Luke's fur, trying to make him see reason. "Your Pack killed four of my wolves and they had families. These families are still grieving, that's why we have to leave."

There was still irritation through the bond, but Luke stood up, shaking his fur.

"Can I go with you to your Pack?" Rolus asked, uncertain. He also stood up from the ground.

Luke went back to lie on the floor, head on his paws as he watched Rolus.

Rolus sighed, assuming Luke was waiting for him. He went into the bathroom to wash his face, looking himself in the mirror after. His skin was radiant, and eyes clear. He looked healthy and all thanks to a certain someone in his room.

When he emerged out of the bathroom, he found Luke on his bed, with Rolus' clothes on.

Rolus choked up, his heart ceasing for a moment. He didn't know how much he missed seeing Luke's face until that moment. He was rooted on his spot, admiring his mate in his clothes. If he could, he would rip the clothes off. It was wishful thinking. He knew nothing would happen anytime soon. A shame indeed.

"Hi," he said, willing himself to walk. He was sure his cheeks were flaming.

"Are you ready to go?" Luke asked, stare blank.

The expression threw Rolus off a bit. He thought they were making progress.

He nodded, opening his closet to take out a jacket. He wore it, then gestured with his head for them to leave.

They headed down the stairs, with Rolus dreadful because he could sense that there was someone in the kitchen. His hopes of that person not surfacing were shattered when the person came face to face when they stepped on the last step.

It was Marianne. She had a cup in hand, and when she saw past Rolus to Luke, she shook. Her eyes were wide in terror.

Before Rolus could assure her, she ran away back into the kitchen, leaving a shattered cup on the floor.

He cursed under his breath, about to follow her. Luke placed his hand on his shoulder, stopping him. Rolus looked back to Luke, who shook his head.

He sighed, then mind-linked Charlotte to console Marianne. Rolus made sure they hurried out of the Pack House to avoid further incidents.

When they buckled up in the car, Rolus didn't start the car right away. He put his head on the steering wheel, the little bit of hatred slithering through the bond. It was like smoke seeping through any opening.

"You okay?" Rolus asked, glancing at Luke. His face seemed annoyed.

"You know how it is, Rolus. But I'm trying," he said, looking out the window.

There was a surge of negative emotions through the bond, making Rolus clench his fists. He pulled himself together and started the car, then drove off.

It was quiet in the car, save for the occasional cough or two from him.

When they arrived at Black Moon, they didn't immediately get out of the car. Rolus didn't know Luke's reasons, but on his side, he was wondering how would the sleeping arrangements go, like if Luke was going to be in his wolf form or something like that.

Luke leaned back against his seat, closing his eyes. Rolus stared, unable to look away. His mate was handsome, and he felt like he didn't appreciate that too much. His personality and attitude could use some help, but Rolus realised that he loved him anyway. They were mates, so they had to accept each other's flaws.

"How are you feeling?" Rolus broke the silence.

"I'm fine, Rolus. I'm just tired," he replied, opening his eyes a bit to look back at Rolus.

"Do you think you'll be okay with us talking?"

The sigh Luke released came deep from his depth. "Let's talk."

Rolus' mind got jumbled, trying to put his thoughts in order so that he didn't look like a fool to Luke. "What does this mean for us?"

Luke still had his eyes closed. Rolus wasn't sure if he set him off or not, but the feelings through the mate bond remained constant.

"What do you want this to mean?" Luke said, a hand placed over his eyes.

Rolus didn't want to spill his heart out to him only to have Luke mock him or something. Deep down, he knew Luke was better than that, but his fears were valid to him.

"I want you to consider our bond and-"

Luke snorted in disbelief, looking at Rolus, saying, "What have I been doing all along?"

Rolus tried to rephrase. "I want just want us to go back to how we were." Rolus realised he just made everything worse with his statement when Luke unbuckled his seatbelt, trying to leave.

Without thinking, Rolus panicked and got ahold of Luke's hand. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean it like that. Please don't go."

Luke snatched his arm away, crossing them. "What did you mean? Things are not going back to how they were, Rolus. You should accept that instead of trying to force me into accepting the bond. I'm trying here, Rolus. I came every night for a month. Isn't that proof enough that I'm trying?"

"You are trying, Luke. I know how hard you are trying. And I appreciate it. Thank you," that's all Rolus could say. Words were not enough to express how grateful he was that Luke was even giving him any attention.

Luke didn't say anything in return, but Rolus knew how he already felt by the warmth coming through the bond.

"What else did you want to talk about?" Luke asked after the silence ensured.

"I'm tired. How are we sleeping?" Rolus evaded his questioning. He needed time to put his thoughts together so that he didn't make Luke feel pressured.

"You'll take the guest bedroom. I miss sleeping on a bed," Luke replied, making Rolus feel disappointment. "You look like a kicked puppy, Rolus. I'll sleep in my wolf form for tonight. But I can't keep sleeping in my wolf form anymore."

It's like Rolus didn't hear Luke's whole speech. He only entertained the one where they were going to sleep in the same room. He was already out of the car, heading to the door.

When he realised that Luke was not following, he turned around to see that he was still inside the car. If he could, he would have went to Luke just to drag him out of the car. But he couldn't. They were still new to each other in terms of their budding mate bond.

Luke took his sweet time getting out of the car. Rolus' impatience was out of this world.

"Someone's too happy to sleep," Luke remarked, trying to pass a smile.

It wasn't that he was happy to sleep. It was who he was sleeping next to.

Rolus turned back around to open the door, holding it open for Luke. Luke mumbled his thanks when he entered.

Rolus closed the door, then composed himself so that he wouldn't embarrass himself with how eager he was. He wanted to run up the stairs, just so that he could be surrounded by Luke's scent in his room. He didn't of course.

He followed behind Luke, who took his sweet time on the stairs. Rolus was very impatient.

When they arrived in the room, Rolus went straight to the bedroom, then sat on the bed. He didn't realise how much he missed Luke's bedroom.

When Luke emerged, he had already turned to his wolf. Rolus didn't waste time sliding off the bed and sitting on the floor. Well, Luke didn't waste time when he went to Rolus' open arms.
