Title: "A Love Across Time."

Summary- Torn Past & Future Love with the same person.

In the harshness of war, Sergeant Bucky Barnes found solace in one unexpected place-a nurse named Y/N. She was kind, always patient, and had a smile that could brighten even the darkest battlefield. Bucky had been under her care for a bullet wound that had grazed his arm, and from the moment he saw her, he was smitten.

"You're gonna be alright, Sergeant," she'd said as she carefully bandaged his arm. Her touch was gentle, her voice soothing in a way that made him forget the chaos around them.

Days passed, and Bucky found himself constantly thinking about her. He'd walk past the medical tent more often than needed, finding every excuse to see her. Sometimes, it was under the pretense of asking about a buddy's condition, other times he'd fabricate a new scrape or bruise that 'needed checking.'

"Back again, Sergeant Barnes?" Y/N teased one day, hands on her hips as she eyed him suspiciously. "If I didn't know any better, I'd think you were trying to get out of duty."

Bucky chuckled, rubbing the back of his neck. "Can't blame a guy for wanting a little extra care, right?"

Y/N shook her head with a smile. "Maybe one day you'll ask me out instead of inventing new injuries."

That caught him off guard, but the smile never left his face. "You'd say yes?"

She shrugged playfully. "Why don't you try and find out?"

The next time he saw her, Bucky mustered the courage and finally asked her on a date. They met at a small café nearby, the war momentarily forgotten as they shared stories and laughter. The chemistry between them was undeniable, and soon they were inseparable, their love growing despite the war that raged around them.

But fate had other plans.

When Steve Rogers came for him, to take on Hydra, Bucky's sense of duty overshadowed the life he dreamed of with Y/N. He promised her he'd come back, swearing on his heart that they would continue their lives together after the war.

But that promise was shattered the day he fell from the train. Steve had fought beside him, but Bucky couldn't hold on. As he plummeted into the abyss, he thought of Y/N, her face the last thing in his mind before the world went dark.

Seventy years later, the world had changed, Steve was frozen for 70 years, and you were injected with a Super Serum because you had joined Shield in honor of Bucky, everything had now changed but so had the man who once was Bucky Barnes. Now, he was a ghost, a weapon for Hydra, brainwashed into becoming the Winter Soldier. The years of torture had erased almost everything-his memories, his identity, his humanity.

Almost everything.

When he was deployed to confront Steve Rogers and his team-Natasha Romanoff, Sam Wilson, and Y/N-the Winter Soldier was nothing more than a machine programmed to kill. He fought relentlessly, his skills deadly as he tried to take them down one by one.

Then he saw her.

Y/N looked the same as before, but still radiant, still fierce, she fought alongside Steve and Natasha with a strength and grace that made her a formidable opponent. As Bucky swung his metal arm toward her, ready to strike, something inside him stopped.

The face before him wasn't just a target. It was her.

Flashes of memory surged through him-the nurse who had treated him, the woman who had laughed with him over coffee, the love he had sworn to come back to. For a moment, the Winter Soldier faltered.

Y/N saw the hesitation in his eyes. "Bucky," she whispered, her voice barely audible over the sounds of battle.

His name. His real name.

Something inside him cracked, the cold, unfeeling machine that Hydra had made him started to crumble. He stumbled back, confused, torn between the killer he had become and the man who still loved her.

"Y/N," he rasped, his voice hoarse as if it had been silenced for decades. The recognition in his eyes was fleeting but real.

Steve, Natasha, and Sam watched in shock as the assassin lowered his weapon, his breath ragged. Y/N took a cautious step forward, her eyes never leaving his.

"You remember me," she said softly, her heart aching for the man she had lost all those years ago.

"I...I tried to come back," Bucky said, his voice broken, his gaze filled with both sorrow and confusion.

Tears welled in Y/N's eyes, but she didn't let them fall. Instead, she reached out, her hand trembling as it touched his cheek. "You're still in there, Bucky. We'll get you back."

The battle raged on around them, but in that moment, it was just the two of them. Time had stolen so much from them, but the love they shared had endured, even after all the horrors. And though Bucky was not fully himself, for the first time in seventy years, he remembered what it was like to feel alive.

They would have a long road ahead of them, but they would face it together, just as they had always promised.

Though the Winter Soldier was still a threat to the world, Bucky Barnes was no longer lost in the shadows. With Y/N by his side, he had a chance to find himself again. And maybe, just maybe, the love that had spanned decades could heal even the deepest wounds.
