Title: It all started with a drink.
Bucky Barnes stared at his glass, watching the amber liquid swirl around the ice cubes. The bar was dimly lit, music thumping in the background, but all of that faded to white noise as his thoughts ran wild. He hadn't intended to come out tonight, much less drink, but after a rough mission, he needed an escape. The memories... they haunted him.
That's when she sat down next to him.
Y/n Stark, though he didn't know her name yet. He just noticed her fiery presence. She was the kind of woman who seemed to command attention without trying. Her sharp eyes glanced at him, and without a word, she gestured to the bartender for another round.
"Rough day?" she asked, her voice light but with a hint of something darker beneath.
Bucky nodded, taking a sip from his glass. "Something like that."
"Here's to shitty days," she quipped, raising her drink. He raised his glass and clinked it against hers. He appreciated her brevity, her not asking questions. They sat in a comfortable silence, the weight of the world on both their shoulders but unspoken between them.
One drink became two. Two became five. Somewhere between the shots and laughter, the pain in Bucky's chest dulled, and for the first time in a long time, he felt... normal.
"Wanna get out of here?" she asked, her lips curling into a mischievous smirk.
Bucky blinked, slightly taken aback, but his mind, clouded with alcohol and the comfort of this stranger, nodded in agreement. "Yeah... yeah, let's go."

The Next Morning
Bucky woke up with a pounding headache and a sinking feeling in his stomach. His arm was draped across a warm body, the soft scent of lavender filling his nose. Panic shot through him as he slowly opened his eyes.
Oh no.
Y/n lay beside him, her hair a wild mess on the pillow, breathing softly. Memories from the night before came rushing back, pieces of their laughter, heated touches, and whispered words filling his mind. He cursed himself internally. This was a mistake-a huge mistake.
Carefully, he slipped out of the bed, trying not to wake her, and quickly gathered his clothes. He wasn't the type to sneak out, but this-whatever this was-couldn't go further. He wasn't ready for complications. Not now.
By the time Y/n stirred, Bucky was long gone.
One Week Later - Avengers Compound
Bucky had hoped that night would stay buried. After all, it was just a one-night thing. No harm, no foul. Right?
