Title: "Fighting, Flirting, Loving?"
Summary: You and Bucky are frenemies, one minute you guys are fighting and then moment flirting and rest is history...
The safe house was tucked away in a quiet part of town, its windows fogged with the relentless downpour outside. Thunder rumbled in the distance, and the heavy rain drummed against the roof like a melancholic lullaby. Inside, however, it was anything but serene.
Y/n and Bucky were supposed to be lying low after a particularly dangerous mission, but instead, the air was thick with tension. They were both a mess-wounds from their last fight still fresh, both physically and emotionally. Y/n paced the small living room, her frustration palpable as she shot a glare at Bucky, who was leaning against the wall with crossed arms, his expression equally stubborn.
"Do you ever think before you act?" Y/n snapped, her voice sharp enough to cut through the din of the storm. "We could have lost everything out there because you decided to play the hero again!"
Bucky rolled his eyes, his jaw clenched. "And what? Let you handle everything while I stand back? You know that's not how I operate. You were about to get ambushed, and I couldn't just stand by and watch!"
Y/n stopped pacing, her heart racing. "You're infuriating! You can't just charge in without a plan, Bucky. We're a team! We need to communicate, not let our egos drive us into danger."
He pushed himself off the wall and took a step toward her, his blue eyes stormy with frustration. "And you're so busy lecturing me that you don't see when I'm trying to protect you. You're reckless too! You were just as close to being shot out there!"
The argument was spiraling, emotions flaring with every heated word. Yet, underneath the anger, there was something deeper-something neither of them was willing to acknowledge. They both cared, too much perhaps, and it scared them.
Bucky turned away, running a hand through his messy hair, and Y/n felt a pang in her chest. She took a breath, trying to calm herself, but the words slipped out before she could stop them. "Maybe if you didn't always act like you're invincible, we could actually get through this without fighting!"
He shot her a look, his expression softening just a fraction. "I'm not invincible, Y/n. I'm just trying to survive like everyone else."
The rain continued to fall outside, creating a rhythm that was almost soothing. Y/n felt her anger ebb slightly, replaced by something else-an ache for connection. "And what about the way you push me away? We're supposed to have each other's backs, but it feels like you're always trying to keep me at arm's length."
