Morning came soon, casting a soft glow on the room as Lucy stirred awake. She found Angela's head nestled comfortably between her breasts, her dark black hair fanned out across her chest.

Smiling down at her sleeping girlfriend, Lucy couldn't help but feel a sense of peace wash over her. Gently, she began to stroke Angela's hair, running her fingers through the silky strands.

The rhythmic motion was soothing, and she reveled in the quiet intimacy of the moment. After a few minutes, Lucy leaned in, her lips brushing against Angela's ear as she whispered, "Baby, wake up." Angela stirred, her eyes fluttering open to meet Lucy's gaze.

The love in her eyes was unmistakable as she smiled up at her. "Good morning, beautiful," she murmured, pressing a kiss to Lucy's lips.

Lucy's smile grew wider as she looked down at Angela, her fingers still carding through her hair. "Don't you think we should start on the twins' nursery today?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.

The excitement in her eyes was contagious, and Angela couldn't help but feel her own excitement build. *Two little girls*, she thought, *we're going to have two little girls*. "Yeah," she replied, propping herself up on her elbows. "We should definitely start today."

Lucy's eyes sparkled with happiness, and Angela knew that they were both thinking about the countless hours they would spend together in that room, watching their daughters grow and learn.

They shared a tender kiss, the weight of their love settling heavily between them. Angela pulled away first, her hand resting on Lucy's belly. "We're going to make such amazing moms," she said softly.

Lucy's hand covered Angela's, and she nodded. "Yes, we are," she agreed.

And with that, they began to plan their day, their minds filled with paint swatches, baby furniture, and dreams for the nursery.

Lucy's eyes lit up like stars as she looked at Angela, her bottom lip jutting out in a playful pout. "Pretty please," she begged, "can we make it pink?" She knew Angela had reservations about going too girly with the nursery, but she couldn't help herself. She had always imagined having a baby girl, and now they were having two.

The thought was almost too wonderful to bear. Angela laughed at Lucy's expression, unable to deny her anything. "Okay, okay," she conceded, her voice filled with amusement. "We'll make it pink." Lucy squealed with delight, throwing her arms around Angela's neck and showering her with grateful kisses.

*She knew Angela would come around*, Lucy thought triumphantly. They spent the rest of the morning browsing online stores for pink decorations and furniture, Lucy's enthusiasm contagious.

They bickered playfully over which shade of pink to choose, and Angela couldn't help but smile at their shared excitement.

With paintbrushes in hand, Angela and Lucy stood side by side, working diligently on the nursery walls. The room was already starting to transform, the once bland space now bursting with life and color.

As they painted, Lucy couldn't help but feel a sense of mischief bubbling up inside her. With a quick glance to ensure Angela wasn't looking, she flicked a small amount of paint onto Angela's cheek. Angela gasped in surprise, turning to face Lucy with mock indignation.

"What was that for?" she asked, a grin tugging at the corners of her mouth. Lucy giggled, her eyes dancing with playfulness. "Just making sure you're paying attention," she replied, dipping her brush back into the paint. Angela shook her head, but the twinkle in her eyes gave away her own growing amusement.

Before long, they were engaged in a full-blown paint fight, laughing and splattering pink paint everywhere. Their clothes were ruined, their hair was streaked, and the walls may have ended up with some abstract art, but they didn't care.

This was a memory they would cherish forever, a moment of pure joy in the chaos of preparing for their new arrivals. When they finally called a truce, they stood back to survey their messy masterpiece, hands entwined and hearts full.

Angela couldn't help but notice how much had changed since that first paint fight they'd had last year when Lucy had first moved in. Back then, they were just friends, roommates trying to add some color to lucys room.

Now, they were girlfriends and expecting twins. As she grabbed Lucy's waist, pulling her close and away from the paint-splattered walls, she felt a warm rush of nostalgia. "I remember when we had a paint fight when you first moved in as my roommate," Angela said, her voice soft and playful.

She looked into Lucy's eyes, the memory of their carefree days together bringing a smile to her lips. "Do you remember that?" Lucy's cheeks flushed at the sudden contact, but she couldn't help but giggle at the reminder.

*How far we've come*, she thought, her heart swelling with love for Angela. She nodded, leaning in to press a quick kiss to Angela's nose. "Of course I do," she replied.

"That was the day I knew we were going to be more than just friends." Angela's smile grew wider at the admission, her own feelings reflected back at her.

Their relationship had blossomed from friendship into something deeper, something that would now grow even stronger with the arrival of their children. They shared a tender moment, their bodies close and connected, before returning to their painting with renewed energy, their love story continuing to unfold with every stroke of the brush.

Once the walls were coated in their chosen shade of soft pink, Lucy and Angela moved onto the next phase of their nursery project: building the furniture. Angela, always the practical one, took charge of assembling the larger pieces like the cribs, closet, and changing table, while Lucy focused on the smaller accents.

They worked together like a well-oiled machine, Angela's strength and precision complementing Lucy's attention to detail and creativity. Despite Angela's protests, Lucy insisted on doing all the delicate tasks herself, determined to contribute as much as possible.

She painted intricate designs on the crib railings and assembled tiny mobiles that would hang above their daughters' heads as they slept. She also arranged the stuffed animals and picture frames, her belly brushing against the furniture as she moved around the room.

All the while, Angela watched her with a mixture of admiration and concern, making sure she didn't overexert herself. Their teamwork was evident in every piece they put together, and by the end of the day, the nursery was starting to take shape.

Lucy couldn't wait to see it fully completed, to watch their daughters grow up surrounded by love and laughter. As they sat back to admire their handiwork, Angela reached out to take Lucy's hand, giving it a reassuring squeeze.

"We make a pretty great team, don't we?" she asked, her eyes filled with love. Lucy smiled, leaning her head against Angela's shoulder. "The best," she agreed. And in that moment, surrounded by half-built furniture and paint fumes, they knew that they were ready.
