I woke up to the smell of bacon. Yummy, bacon! Wait...how can I be thinking about food when my grandmother wants to kill me? I scolded myself.
"Lisa, are you awake?" I heard my mom's voice as she walked in the hotel room with a tray of food. Then a figure followed behind her. She wasn't alone, she was with a man. He looked strangely familiar.
"Hello Lisa." He said.
"Who are you?" I asked anxiously.
"You don't recognize me?"
"You look familiar, but I don't think I know who you are."
"I'm your father, Lisa." What? How can that be? That's not true! He must be an imposter! My father died when I was little!
"Lisa, he is indeed your father." My mom said.
"But how? My father died! And we mourned for him and everything! This man can't be my father!"
"This man-Luke-is your father. Look honey, there is something we need to tell you."
"Lisa, I am your father. We faked my death when you were little to protect you...to protect our family. Your grandmother didn't want us together. She wanted me dead as much as she wants you dead. That's why we had to fake the whole thing. I'm sorry honey."
"So all this time, I have been depressed thinking that my father had died and that my mother had abandoned me, but in reality they were all lies!?"
"We were just trying to protect you honey." My mom and dad both said in unison.
"But why didn't you just tell me?"
"You were too little. You wouldn't have understood. That's why we left you with Lori."
"Wait...so Lori knew about both of you and she didn't tell me anything?" I could feel anger rising in my chest.
"She wasn't suppose to tell you anything. We agreed that it was the best. Look, sweetie, your aunt was just trying to protect you."
"Wait a minute, my aunt?"
My mom sighed and then spoke "Yes dear, Lori is your aunt. She's my sister."
This was just too much. How much stuff had they hidden from me? They are my parents! They were suppose to take care of me and watch me grow. Suddenly, the dream that had been haunting me for so many nights passed through my mind.
"Darling, those dreams-nightmares-were real. That's what happened when I left."
"So I really drove? And I crashed? But how? I don't have any scars. Also, who were the two wolves fighting?"
"Well, you are a fast healer due to your combination of species. And to answer your other question, your grandmother sent a werewolve to kill you." My father answered.
"But who was the other one?"
"It was me." He said flatly.
"But wouldn't the other wolf know who you were?"
"He figured out who I was, and I eliminated him before he had a chance to tell Mindy."
"So you killed him?" I asked shock.
"It was the only thing I could do. It was either him or me. I'm sorry sweetie. I'm not a killer, but I will kill to keep my family safe."
I decided I had heard enough. They had lied to me for so many years. They weren't even a part of my life until now!
I got up and ran to the door. I could hear my parents yelling for me to come back, but I just ignored them. I ran out the door and through the hall. I took the elevator to the first floor and then I ran out of the hotel without looking back.
I ran for what seemed to be hours until I reached a poor neighborhood. I had no clue where I was. I had never been here before. Suddenly, I felt a hand over my mouth. Who in the world is this?
I began to panic, and I bit the person who was covering my mouth with their hand. "Ouch!" He screamed, and he spoke, I froze. It was Jake!
"Jake! What are you doing here? I though I'd never see you again!"
"Well...I kind of woke up here. I don't know exactly how I got here though. I just remember hearing voices. They were talking about you."
"What???" I asked demandingly.
"They said that they had to find you and take you to some woman named Mindy."
"Was that all?"
"No, they also said that you got away the first time, but that they had an infallible plan. They said that they were going to kidnap your parents to make you surrender to them."
"They are going to do what?"
"Lisa, they were just voices. It could've just been a nightmare."
"I wish it was just a nightmare."
"What are you talking about?"
"Just...come on...we don't have time. We need to get to my parents before they do. I'll explain everything on the way there."
With that said, I grabbed his hand and we ran. I wasn't exactly sure where I was going, but I had to attempt to make my way back to the hotel. I couldn't let them take my parents away. Not when I just got them back.
