Chapter Twelve

Jake's Father's Point of View (The Alpha)

I was frozen by the thought that my son had found his mate. How was this possible? He explained everything to me, but I was still confused. When he was born, a witch told me that he was born without a mate. I asked her how she knew and she just said that she knew. She was a very pleasant witch, even though most people spoke bad about her. Her name was Mindy.

Mindy seemed to be very shy and caring, and I didn't care that people said otherwise. I think I actually developed feelings for her. My wife at the moment wasn't my mate, so I was easily attracted to many women. Especially Mindy, there was just something about her.

"Dad, we need to find my mate!" my son said in a commanding voice, interrupting my train of thoughts.

"Ok, son. Where did you last see her?" I asked curiously. I had to find out for myself about this 'mate'. The witch had told me that he didn't have a mate, so why did he claim to have one? I needed to find out what was happening.

Jake's POV

I led my father towards the hotel where I had last seen my beautiful mate. He seemed confused when I told him that I had found my mate, but I didn't know why. I didn't have time to figure it out either. We came to a halt as he started sniffing the air and trying to take in the scent.

"Mindy was here..." was all he said.

"Who's Mindy?" I asked, but he wouldn't answer. He seemed to be shocked about something. Apparently he knew this person that took my mate away. Then suddenly the name sinked into my brain. Mindy..MINDY! As in that woman who the voices were talking about. So that WASN'T a nightmare!? It was true! My mate was in danger and she was in the arms of this Mindy woman? And worst of all, my father knew her! I really hope they weren't friends because any relationship with my father would end if that were the case.

My father turned to me with fear clear in his face. "I...She..." he was at a loss of words. He clearly couldn't do the talking so I did.

"How do you know this Mindy woman?" I asked him.

"I...I met her when you were born. She told me you didn't have a mate. That you were born without one." What? That made no sense! Why would someone lie about this? Lisa is my mate!! I know she is! How would she know?

"But, Lisa is my mate!" I yelled in frustration. We were both confused. Neither one of us knew why someone would lie about something like this. Why would this Mindy person tell my father that I was born without a mate? So many thoughts were running through my mind. The most important thought being, that I NEED to find my mate!

Lisa's POV

Here I am. Standing in front of my grandma and I am completely speechless. Literally, she put a spell on me so I wouldn't be able to talk. She didn't want to risk anyone finding me, so she brought me up to the tower of her castle. Yes, she has a castle, and it's HUGE! No, huge, is and understatement. It was gargantuan!

"So, you are to stay here and don't make too much noise. I have to figure out what I'm going to do with you." Where did she expect me to go? She locked the door. "Oh, and your behavior will depend on whether your parents will live or not." My heart came to a stop at her words. Did she know where my parents were? Was she the one that took them?

I began to freak out and fear for their lives. They must be in danger. From what I've seen, my grandmother is evil. I feel disgusted that she's my grandmother! How can we be related? I mean, sure we look alike, but that's it. She is heartless! She doesn't think of anyone else but herself. She is the opposite of me, at least that's what I think.

When my thoughts began to calm down, I realized she wasn't in the tower with me anymore. She had left. I quickly ran to the door and tried to open it but it was useless. The evil witch had locked it. How could she be so heartless? I decided to lay on the bed of the tower room and rest a bit. I had to regain my strength after all. I really hope my parents are okay. I wouldn't want anything happening to them because of me. I wasn't going to lose them again. I began to get comfortable and tried to calm myself down enough to get some sleep. I knew that I needed the rest if I wanted to live and find my parents. Soon enough, I drifted off into a deep sleep, I hadn't noticed how tired I had been.
