Chapter Five

We ate silently. When we finished eating, he lead me towards the living room. "Have a seat." He said."Now let's talk. What exactly is it that you don't know?"

"Everything...what is a mate? How is it even possible to shift into a wolf?"

"Well...the mate thing...Your mate is your other half. The universe pairs us wolves with a mate for life. We are exactly like wolves when it comes to mating. We mate for life just like wolves do."

"So you're telling me that we can shift into wolves?"

"That's exactly what I'm saying!"

"Ok...umm..what did you mean when you said that we were mates?"

"How much more specific could I have been? I told you we are mates. What else is there to it?"

"So we have to spend the rest of our lives together? What if we don't like each other?"

"That very rarely happens, but when it does, you have the chance to reject your mate. The downside to that is that it can kill the one who is being rejected."

"But...what if neither of us likes each other? What then?"

"Lisa, I love you already and I don't even know you. I know that the universe paired us up for a reason, and that's all that matters to me."

I felt my face heat up at that response. I tried to hide it, but it was too late. He had noticed and had a huge grin on his face. I loved his smile. Thinking about his smile made me think of what he said. Were we really mates? Was he really mine? Was it really that easy to have him because he already belonged to me?

My thoughts were cut off by a hand that was holding my face up to look at this very gorgeous guy. "Don't have doubts. You are mine, and I am yours. That's if you will accept me?"

My jaw dropped open. Did he really just ask me that? How did I go from no boyfriend, to having a very sexy-looking guy asking me if I wanted to spend my whole life with him? What am I supposed to say? I've never been in a relationship before! I don't even know what people do when they date!

"Calm down." I felt his arm wrap around my waist. It felt so good to be close to him. "I just want to you to answer me. If you say yes, then I promise I will love you and protect you 'til the end of time."

I really couldn't believe he was asking me this. What do I say? I had a feeling that I had a very stupid look on my face. I was so confused. I didn't even know that 'werewolves'-that's what they're called right?-existed! Now I come to find out that not only am I one of them, but I also have a mate. A person who I am supposed to share the rest of my life with.

With all these thoughts, I had failed to notice that Jake had moved even closer to me. His grip on my waist tightened, but now both of his arms were wrapped around me.

"So, Lisa, will you be mine? Forever?" He said as his face grew closer to my mine. I could feel his minty breathe on my face. I wasn't sure what to say. I have never fallen in love but I am pretty sure that this connectionI was feeling was the closest I've ever felt to it.

With that said, I made up my mind on what I was going to chose. A life with a mate that will love me forever? Or a life by myself where I would probably get nowhere? It wasn't a very hard decision.

I closed in the small gap between us and wrapped my arms around his neck. I must've caught him by surprise because he had a confused look on his face. I enjoyed this. He was finally as confused as I had been. I pulled his face closer to mine(if that was even possible) and I let my lips find my way to his.

As soon as my lips touched his, I felt sparks. It was like nothing I had experienced before. I could feel his tongue asking for permission to enter through my lips. I allowed him permission and as soon as his tongue was intertwined with mine, I felt the sudden urge to pull him even closer. I wrapped my legs around his waist as he lifted me off the ground.

I felt him moving and was pretty sure we were walking somewhere, and by 'we', I mean him. I didn't care where he was taking me because for some reason I trusted him with my life. He pulled away a bit, leaving a small gap in between our lips. Then he leaned closer to my ear and whispered, "So, is that a yes?"

I gave him a huge smile and then said "yes..." And then I quickly leaned closer and tried to kiss him but he stopped me.

"Forever?" He asked.

"Yes, forever." I said and when I said that, his eyes lit up an he leaned down to kiss me once again. I was so into the kiss that I didn't realize we were in his bedroom.

He laid me down on the bed, then whispered again. "You are mine, I love you Lisa." I was flattered by his words and I allowed myself to lose control and kiss him once again, but this time the kiss was a lot deeper.

I pulled him off and tried to grasp some air. Then I said the three words that I had never pictured myself saying. "I love you."
