“I'm Thallan, lord of the Underworld and one of the keepers of Hell.”

Those words repeat over and over in my head as I run as fast as I can towards my bedroom with Jake running beside me.

I can hear him laughing at my hasty escape after he drank my blood from my very hand!

My stomach churns at the thought of him drinking my blood, its metallic scent choked my nose and throat but the image of him kneeling infront of me, bare-chested with his long dark hair cascading on his muscled back will be forever embedded in my mind.

After shaking my head from side to side in my futile attempt to erase his image from my mind, I begin to throw clothes after clothes out of my closet, looking for something to wear.

Underworld.

Shivers run through my body at the thought of that word.

Hell.

Goosebumps appears in my arms and I suddenly noticed that the cut he made in my palm is already fully healed.

What did you get yourself into, Elisha!

Then I remember that he gave a final lick in my palm before I hightailed out of the room.

This is insane!

Riiiiiiiiiiiiinnnnnngggg!!

I almost jumped out of my skin when the phone suddenly rings, my nerves are already on a tight leash and the sudden sound is not helping it.

With shaking hand, I reached for the receiver.

“Hello?”

“Hey! Elie.” I let out a sigh of relief when I recognized my co-employee’s voice.

“Hi! Sam.”

“Hey, Bossy asked me to call and inform you that she is closing the clinic today.”  Her cheerful voice slowly calms me.

“Okay. Thanks Sam”

“Bye bye!”

I heard the audible click that ended our call.

God thank you!

The closing of the veterinary clinic today is truly a godsend, I need to sort out everything in my life today before I could go out and live normal again.

What should I do?

What should I do?

I paced back and forth in my room, my nerves getting the best of me. The beige carpet under me is in danger of slowly wearing out at because of my pacing.

Suddenly, Jake run out of the room while barking insanely. Fearing the safety of my dog, I immediately follow after him.

I followed him down towards the kitchen, the sound of his paws against the wooden floor echoed through the silent house.

Stepping inside the sunny kitchen, I let out a glass-shattering scream when I saw my kitchen being overrun by small little creatures.

There are a half dozen of these reddish-brown creatures running in my kitchen, each one holding either a pan or cutlery in their elongated fingers. Every one of them turned their over-sized bluish-white eyes on me at the sound of my scream.

I scream louder than before when they suddenly scream back at me, displaying rows after rows of tiny pointed teeth through their gaping mouth. The sounds of their scream explode all around the house, the windows vibrate with the intensity of the sound and some of the fragile glasses in the kitchen break into millions of pieces.
