RECAP:
“So, what brings the Keeper of Hell on Heaven’s Gate?” He asked as we walked a distance away from the gate and I grinned inwardly at his subtle way of keeping me away from the entrance and away from immediate sight, where Gabriel or any other angel might see me.
“I need information about a young soul.”
“A young soul? Tell me, I may know this soul.” I immediately informed him the information on Emily’s name, her birthdate, the time of her death and the manner of how she perished.
“Oh, that young one. Forgive me, my friend but that little thing is Gabriel’s ward. I'm not allowed to divulge anything to you without his permission.” He replied after several moments of silence.
“Gabriel’s ward?” I asked in confusion. Why does a simple soul become an archangel’s ward?
“Did I just heard my name or do I sense a demon here?” I groaned loudly when I recognized the other voice that intruded our conversation.”
Gabriel.
The Archangel himself.
The Strength of God.
And the same one who’s pissed off with my presence.
This is not good…
*************
“Long time no see, Gabriel! It’s good to see you!” I teased humorously and I think I succeeded on this one when I saw an irritated frown creased his forehead.
“I wish I could return the sentiment, Thallan. What are you doing here?” Before I could reply to his question a movement behind him attracted my attention and I saw an angel peeking behind Gabriel’s robe. I narrowed my eyes on her when I saw a pair of wings on her back, which were partially covered by her brown ringlets of hair. Could it be?
“A fledgling, Gabriel?” I inquired as the archangel moved to conceal her from my sight and my question was immediately answered by that gesture alone.
Archangels don’t become over-protective over an angel or even a soul except if that particular one was born to be an angel, a fledging. I stared back at her when she peered curiously at my direction for the second time and the pureness in those doe-eyes made me look away from them, it makes me feel that I'm unworthy to be looked at but I could not stop myself from looking back at her, afterall angels are seldom born and they are a priced treasure of Heaven. It’s not often that I could see one especially a young fledgling and clearly this one is very important if Gabriel was her guardian.
“What do you want here, Thallan?” Gabriel asked gruffly, concealing her again with his robe. Oh boy, someone is totally pissed off.
”Nothing important. I'm just inquiring about a certain departed soul.” I shrugged.
“Then hurry up and leave. I can’t have you near the Gate especially now that you knew that I'm guarding a fledgling.”
“Yeah.. Yeah sure..” I said as I turn back towards Camuel. “Hey Camuel! To add the soul’s mortal name was Emily and she got a sister, an adoptive sister by the name of Elisha.” I continued.
“Elisha? Lissy?!” A childish voice piped in and I heard Gabriel groaning loudly at the same time that I saw the amusement in Camuel’s face.
I turned around and immediately paled when I saw the fledging slowly walking towards me, making me step back away from her as she came nearer and I saw the panic on Gabriel’s face as he reached a hand to stop her.
