FRESHMEN YEAR- NOVEMBER
~Alex's POV~
November comes swiftly, and the first week passes in a blur of autumn leaves and breezes nipping at every exposed bit of skin you dare show. I've managed to finish a fashion project or two, one being a dress I'd like to wear during Christmas and the second one... I don't know what it is supposed to be yet, it is in the shape of a skirt, but it was mostly to test the products available in the fashion design room, and they're all perfect.
The assignments being assigned from the class I had isn't much, either. My most recent one was a scavenger hunt: The assignment was to go outside and find fifteen different things with blue, red, and/or yellow embedded in them. However, the others with more than one class... I swear I'm going to be attending my younger brother's funeral by the end of the year.
I, along with a few others, don't get grades for this kind of stuff. Some teachers treat these classes with gravitas, not letting a single note or opportunity slip by without reminding them about how much these classes could potentially affect their future... And unfortunately, that mindset had seeped into their students, akin to a virus.
"How come I already have a B?" Darkness lifts the paper closer to her face to examine it as if decoding something.
Skye, who was peering over her shoulder, shrugs. "I dunno. But, I know that I have a Z!"
"... How does one acquire a Z?!" Sora's face yields astonishment to the brim.
"Again, I dunno! I think it's a pretty letter with the other grades."
"What subject do you have a B in?" Jaxx asks from his seat, turning slightly and resting his arm on the back of his seat. His grin is mild, yet you can tell that it's growing slowly with anticipation and integrity.
When Darkness clarifies that the subject is "STEM Subjects and Academics", Jaxx chuckles. With a leer in his words, he says, "Really? It's pretty easy."
"Hah, really? What do you have?"
"An A+."
"Nerd," Darkness spat in a low tone, rolling her eyes and refocusing them on Jaxx. He wears a smug grin with pride, raising a contempt brow at her.
I sense the tension boiling, glancing between them before saying, "It's nothing to worry about, really. All that matters is that we pass our talent exams."
Jaxx agrees, nodding his head and acknowledging what I said, but I could still sense some strain in the room. Glancing over to Darkness, her shoulders are tense as she glares over the top of her laptop at Jaxx. Her fingers clenched tightly on the edges of the paper, and Skye and Erza sitting at either side of her were too weary to say or mention anything about it. Flames flickered in her dark green eyes shadowed by her furrowed brow. It looked as if she were about to tear her paper in half. Luckily, Erza takes it and sets it down carefully before she can.
From a seat or two away, Candi is tracing patterns absentmindely atop the desk with her cheek resting in her opposing palm. She sighs exasperatedly, dropping her hand fom her cheek to below her chin. "I think it's pretty easy, too. I have a high B, but I'll be able to get it up in no time."
"Not if I get there first," Jaxx challenges, shifting his attention to Candi instead.
The influencer flips her hair over her shoulder, confidence shining through her actions. "I don't think you'll get far, don't worry. I don't wanna stress you out with such unrealistic goals."
