~Alex's POV~
Tilting her head, Jade's eyes narrow at the sight before her. Levi and I share the shock, too. A snicker slips from me when Jade's words tumble out, "... Who the hell did that to you?"
"Did what?!" Zach snaps his head to look at us from the mirror, and the laughter gets worse. Jade pivots, her hands shielding her face and Levi laughs behind his hand. "It's not that bad!"
"It... Could be better," I admit, struggling to stifle my own laughter. "So much better."
Zach frantically rakes his fingers through his wet, vibrant hair. Splotches of yellow and pink stain the tips of his fingers, color his palms, droplets of water beading from his hair fall down his arm, leaving a trail of color in their wake. Nothing, and I mean nothing came to mind that could have convinced him to do this. I don't think there was a dare out there in the world to properly convince him to do this to himself!
"Did someone pay you? A dare?" Levi persists, walking up to him and holding Zach's wrists as he pulls his hand from his hair.
In his very colorful manner, the rockstar pulls his wrists away and stares into the mirror. "... Man, I really don't know. I saw my hair was coming back, and I didn't want to dye it all pink again! I tried leaving at least some strands so that I could dye those blonde."
"And now you're yellow!" Jade cackles, clutching her stomach. Zach chucks an empty hair dye box at her, which does nothing but add fuel to her mirth.
In simpler terms: Zach had the marvelous idea to get hair dye to do his hair with little experience. There was no preparation for this, only the panicked messages spammed in the group chat begging for us to come over with help. We came empty-handed. Aside from Jade, she's filled to the brim with snarky jokes. It was practically impossible for Zach to let any of it slide, given the distress arising from the situation alone, and he threw anything in his reach at her. Levi and I keep our distance for the full experience.
"I can try calling Erza and see what she can do," I offer, the screen of my phone dim in the bathroom lighting. A warning appears on the screen, but I swipe it away.
"Like she has the time. It's a Thursday!" Zach lets out a groan of defeat, dragging his stained hands down his face. It would've left a really funny mark if his hands were still wet, but they've dried. Unfortunately. "And how'm I supposed to get this out of the sink?! I'm not contacting, paying, or even messing with maintenance. I heard they're mean."
"Everybody's mean," Levi counters. He steps up beside Zach, staring into the mirror blankly. His eyes flick over to Zach in the reflection. He assures him that it'll be fine, that he'll be alright, but Zach always finds something to counter it. Zoning all of them out is the best I can do when Erza suddenly calls me in the middle of our texting discussion, and I have to step out to hear Erza over the line properly.
The dorms felt like they'd gotten smaller, but it has been a couple of months since we've used them. I don't think I've ever been in Zach's dorm, the layout was significantly different from mine and Jade's. Erza agreed when she got here, too. There was a kitchen, but it was mixed with the living room that was akin to the common room aside from all of the band posters plastered confidently on the walls. And not a single one I knew was up. The cosmetologist shuts the door behind her, and I slowly lead her to the bathroom where the chaos of this fine morning is rooted. Only a glimpse of Zach can muster a horrified gasp from her.
