~Alex's POV~

"Alex! Hurry up!" Light fumbles to put his shoes on, hopping in place with a finger inside its heel. "We're gonna be late!"

Twisting the cap of my eyeliner back on its tube, I looked at the black wings flicking from the outer corners of my eyes. Satisfied, I hurry away from my vanity and scoop my makeup into a smaller purse. "I'm coming, I'm coming! Just wait a sec!"

I swooped everything packed from my bed, shoved my bag strap over my shoulder, and rushed downstairs. I take a detour and head to the kitchen. Stopping in front of the counter, I scavenge through the wide, wooden bowl and pull two granola bars from the bottom.

Then, I met Light at the front door and slid my shoes on. Our parents stepped out of the kitchen, approached us, and hugged us tightly while taking some pictures to recall the moment. We were coming home right after, but I can understand why they were treating this as if it were a college send-off. Due to being "Ultimates" now, things were going to be different from how they'd usually be.

After all of that, we started to walk to the bus stop. Well, I walked. Light used his skateboard, of course. If it wasn't already obvious enough, Light's my brother. Younger brother. He's also going to be attending Hopes Peak with me. An unexpected cool breeze whips through, whistling as it passes, and blowing my hair wildly. I sputter once or twice before I have to remove my hair from my lip gloss.

"So," Light says against the wind and sound of his skateboard, "How are you gonna do your introduction?"

"Introduction?" I repeat, lifting my eyes from my schedule paper.

Light turns back to me briefly before looking straight ahead again. "Duh. They're probably gonna make you do an icebreaker. Practice."

Don't tell me what to do! I suck my teeth and muster up a bunch of random facts for me. "Well, I'm Alex Einstein enrolled as the Ultimate Fashion Designer. My birthday is May 1st, I'm a Taurus"

"'And I'm a Taurus', Girl, no one wants to hear the zodiac stuff."

"Hey, how do you know?! What if they give a sudden surprise quiz about everyone's zodiacs by the end of the year and you don't care because you think it's unimportant?"

The skateboarder chuckles, stepping off his board and kicking the end into his palm. "As if that'd happen."

"Anyway," I announce, slowly veering my eyes away from Light and using the approaching bus stop as a focus point, "My name's Alex Einstein, I'm the Ultimate fashion designer, and my birthday is May 1st. I'm a pretty well-known fashion designer, obviously, and I have been into fashion for about three-fourths of my life. I don't plan on giving it up and I hope to pursue it for the rest of my life, thank you very much!"

From beside me, Light claps his hands and I can feel the smug grin stretched on his face.

I finally turn to him and say, "Now, you. Do it."

"Oh, you're funny." Light lowers his skateboard onto the ground and jumps onto it. He pushes a few times with his foot before he's several feet ahead of me. I can't help but groan irritably.

Finally, Light and I arrive at the designated stop. We wait patiently for the bus to come. Light circles around me as I sketch in my notebook. There's something off about this design. I'm not sure if it's the leopard-patterned jacket with the belt, or the heels not going with the black and red shades on the head. Agitation overwrites the nervousness bubbling in my stomach. I flip the pencil and drag the eraser across the page, then dust it off with the side of my hand.
