Selena and Ian had left early, and her parents had announced they were heading to bed when she walked out Evan. So when they went inside everything was quiet and the den light was on. That's where she headed now. As soon as she sat him down on the couch she went to shut the double doors so they wouldn't wake her parents up.
"Alright let's see here." She says as she rummages in the bar cabinet that belonged to her father. He always made sure there was coffee in the cabinet, and that's what she was getting now. She turned on the coffee pot and went to sit by Jared, who had slid down to the floor and had his hands pressed up against his forehead. He wore a dark blue thermal sweatshirt and dark blue jeans. She nudges him to see if he had fallen asleep, he wasn't.
He looked over to her and her heart skips a beat. Why did he have to be engaged for? She thought desperately. He looks away and says. "The last time I was in this room was with Cale, the night he had his heart attack. I feel like it's my fault." He hiccups.
The coffee pot made a beep stating that it was done. She gets up to get him a cup. "Why do you think it's your fault for what happened Jared?" She asks, curious now.
He grunts. "Because we were arguing that's why." he tells her.
She looks at him with a puzzled expression. "Impossible you two never argue."
He looks up and stares at her with a look that she didn't understand. But it caused a great deal of butterflies to flutter around inside her. "Okay, so what were you two arguing about?" She walks back and hands him the coffee.
He took one drink and gagged. "No Sugar?"
She smiles and sits down next to him again. "It's better it its black."
"I'll say." He puts the mug down on the coffee table.
"So what were you arguing about?" She asks again only softer.
He sighs and mumbles, "What we always argue about, it's always the same thing."
Mila waits for him to say more but he doesn't." Which is?" She inquires impatiently.
He looks over at her and again sighs. "You." was all he said.
She just stares at him. Her? Why would they argue over her for? "Why?" she asks incredulously. "About what?"
"For being stupid that's what." He meant him for being stupid but the way he said it made Mila think he was saying she was the one being stupid.
She gets angry. "Oh is that what you guys do? Talk about me behind my back?" She gets up and faces him. "Let me guess, you would tell my grandpa how I was that idiotic girl that I was with Evan right?"
Jared frowns at her. "No but hey of the shoe fits..." he says, thinking of just moments before watching her, as well as the last two weeks, falling for the guy all over again. It started making him angry too.
She stares at him with disbelief. She wasn't prone to drink since she never really liked the way it tasted but she gets up and goes over to the bar and gets out a bottle of whiskey taking a big swig of it.
"Mila." Jared warns her.
"Oh shut up Jared, I don't appreciate you acting like you know me! Ever since I met you, you've been this overprotective disease that wouldn't leave me alone. Why can't you let me just live my life and make mistakes!" She wasn't necessarily yelling but it was getting Jared's attention.
The tear's began to come, collecting in her eyes. She was angry and hurt as if nothing has changed since she left. He was still the same Jared that thought of downgrading her and making her believe that she this girl she wasn't. Emotions swam within her and suddenly she just felt defeated. Taking another long swig of the alcohol she didn't even care that her head was instantly swimming. She had always been a lightweight, another reason why she stayed away. She hated that it easily made her drunk.
