It Was Always You

Chapter Forty Three

Selena and Ian went back inside an hour later to find her brother and best friend sitting on the couch looking over the ultrasound picture together. And judging by how closely they were sitting next to each other, it seems that everything was going to be alright.

"Do you know if it's a boy or a girl yet?"

"No, the doctor said it's not fully developed enough to figure the sex. Maybe in about another two months or so."

He watches her look at their baby and knew that there was no one else who could be the perfect mother to bear his children.

"You're going to be great at it you know." He tells her softly.

She looks at him. "At what?"

"A mother, this child is going to have the best mother there ever was."

Her cheeks became warm at the compliment, and she saw the love in his eyes "And this child is the luckiest in the world to have you as a father." She whispers.

He leans in and kisses her.

"Ah am."

They both break apart to find Selena and Ian staring at them.

"Oh! I was wondering where you guys went?" Mila felt completely embarrassed at being caught kissing.

"Mmhm, sure you were." Selena's smile turns into a grin and then jumps on the balls of her feet.

Jared rolls his eyes. "Go on, say it. I know you're dying too."

"On my God! I'm going to be an auntie!" She screams excitedly.

Mila jumps at the outburst while Jared rubs his ear and Ian just laughs.

"Alright crazy person, calm your horses." He tells his girlfriend.

"I'm not crazy! I'm just overexcitedly happy! I mean who would have thought that my best friend and my brother are going to have a baby together!"

"Yes well, let's keep it on the downlow. My parents still don't know about it yet."

At that Jared and Selena groan aloud.

"Ah crap." He mumbles.

"What? What's wrong?" Mila looks at one sibling to the other.

"Our mother. If you think Selena's outburst was bad wait until we tell her." Jared states uneasily.

"Oh whatever, I wasn't that bad." She complains.

"You screamed so loud I'm sure the whole apartment building heard you." Jared shoots back.

"What about Evan?" Selena suddenly asks before she thought.

Jared threw his hands up in anger. "Now why the hell would say that?"

Mila rolls her eyes. "Who cares what he thinks. I don't have feelings for him, and I realized it that night I sle- um.. that I never did." She quickly backtracks.

Jared smirks, knowing what she was about to say. "What night?"

Mila elbows him in the side and he grunts. "Don't think this conversation is over." he whispers in her ear, and she went beat red.

"So what do you guys plan to do now?" Ian asks, sitting on the stool, taking an apple from a bowl that was sitting on her counter and takes a bite into it.

They look at each other. "To take it slowly. I still have all my things to pack, and my lease here is still up for another two months."

"My Apartment is only a one bedroom, so I'll probably sell it and buy a house."
