For the first five minutes they sat side by side not saying a word. After not being able to stand the long painful silence any longer, Mila asks in a slightly clipped tone,

"Why did you let her kiss you?"

He looks over to her, thinking. "I didn't."

"Um, yes you did. Everyone saw you." Her tone quickly turned into anger.

"Noooo." He stated slowly. "She kissed me, that's different."

She turns her body towards him so she can give her full attention, her body wound tight from the boiling anger that was residing her in chest. She hated how she was feeling, and she didn't understand why she was this angry in the first place.

"How so? You didn't push her away, so that's you kissing her back!" She nearly yelled in the space.

He suddenly started to get very defensive as he looks at her. Turning towards her just as she did, he stiffened as he yelled back,

"I was shocked! I didn't know what the hell was going on! Besides, you would definitely know if I was kissing someone back!"

He slams back against the seat folding his arms in frustration, turning his head away from her he was so angry.

"Oh really?! It seemed you were enjoying it to me!" She snapped, can't helping to be annoyed at herself. Angry that she was taking her insecurities and confusion out on him.

"What the hell is your problem, Mila? You're acting like your jeal..." He stopped his next word.

Could it really be? That just maybe Mila was jealous? He didn't put to much hope on it, but it made him smile a little.

"Why are you smiling?" She demanded, not liking how he just stopped what he was going to say with his whole attitude changing within a split second. She felt like he discovered something she didn't know and refused to tell her what that was.

Jared just shook his head. "Nothing."

They sat in silence a few more minutes, each in their own thoughts. As soon as the anger simmered down inside her and she replayed the scene over and over in her mind again she deflates with her shoulders slumping in slight guilt.

"I'm sorry." She said softly.

He looked back over to her and peered at her beautiful face to see that she actually meant it. He grabbed her hand and held it in his, not thinking twice about it. Something he would have never done weeks ago. But he was getting tired of pretending all the time.

"Care to share it?" He asked, sensing that there was something more going on with her other than just the kiss.

She looked a bit indecisive and takes a deep breath. "Promise not to laugh?" She asked, feeling a little vulnerable revealing what she was about to reveal.

"Promise."

She looks away from him taking another deep breath before confessing what's really been on her mind all day.

"The kiss."

He frowned, thinking that she was talking about the kiss between him and her cousin until her next words slip out.

"I didn't get kissed tonight. Everybody else did. You, Selena, Kristan...but not me." Her voice shook a bit and she looked to be on the verge of tears as she admitted this, not looking at him.

His chest tightens a bit. "Is it important to you?" He asked carefully, not wanting to upset her.

"Well, my grandmother always used to tell me that when you go to your first homecoming there is supposed to be a kiss. I guess its kind of tradition. My grandfather kissed my grandmother, and my dad kissed my mom. It's supposed to be something to set your everlasting love sort of speak."

Jared's chest tightened even more at hearing that. "Evan...was supposed to kiss you, wasn't he?" His voice nearly caught as his heart throbbed painfully.

"I was hoping, yes. But just because he kisses me doesn't mean he's the one that will be my everlasting love, man that really sounds cliché." She chuckles nervously.

She then waves her hand turning a bit pink in her embarrassment as she looks down at her lap. "It's all stupid anyways, completely redundant."

"I don't think so." Jared stated, his back straightening a bit.

She gave a tiny little smile, looking back over to him.

"Can you promise me something?" He suddenly asked.

"What?" She asked curiously.

"Not to get mad?" He holds his breath as she looked at him, trying to figure out what he planned to do that would cause her to get angry about.

"Okay...I promise." She took the leap, her heart suddenly thumping in her chest.

Honestly, it was just the spur of the moment. The thing that popped into his mind, but once it was planted there, he knew he needed to act on it otherwise he would never find the courage to do it again. It was the perfect moment with the perfect setting, and it was definitely something he wasn't going to regret.

He leaned down and pressed his lips against hers gently.

The smell of her perfume wafted all around him, playing havoc on his senses. The feel of her plush lips on his sent an electricity of want and desire straight through his body like a lightning bolt striking in the dark sky. He had planned on just a simple small kiss. Lips against lips, nothing more.

But that didn't happen.

As soon as his touched hers he was utterly and completely lost into it. She sighed almost dreamily, and he cupped the back of her head to bring her closer, putting more pressure on the kiss. Slowly putting his hand on the side of just below her jaw and cheek he titled her face slightly and braving his tongue against her lower lip she opened like a blooming flower to the first rays of the morning sun.

Sliding the tip on her lower lip made her entire body shiver and his boldness turned even bolder as he opened her mouth even further and plunged right inside. She soon followed what he was doing and decided she liked this very much. After her initial shock of his unexpected move faded, she said the hell with it and let the moment take over.

In fact, she never wanted it to end.

Unconsciously, she reached her hands up his neck and into his hair, leaning back against the seat as he followed suit not once separating their lips from each other as they both continued to devour each other without a care of thought.

They both felt the car stop causing them to break apart slowly, both in a haze of longing. For long breathless moments they just sat there staring at one another, each trying to get their bearings back.

"Now that is me kissing back." He stated a bit breathlessly, rubbing his thumb tenderly against her soft cheek that was flushed a pretty pink.

She suddenly laughed, pushing him slightly away from her. Biting her lower lip that was now swollen from his onslaught, she looked at him almost shyly. "Thank you, Jared, for giving me that. You're a really good friend." She smiled, trying her hardest to not feel a little embarrassed at what just transpired moments ago.

Before anything else could be said or done she quickly opened the door and got out, leaving him feeling a little down at her words. He watched her run to the house and before she fully disappeared inside, she turned around and waved at him with a shy smile before closing the door.

He just sat there staring. Maybe he shouldn't have done that, but then again, he was purely glad he taken the leap and did it. And it felt so good to be out in the open with his feelings, even if it made it seem he was just doing her a favor on a childhood dream.

He suddenly laughed at himself as he shut the door and the driver started to leave her house behind. He was actually glad it turned out this way. Glad that it was him and not Evan that gave her that traditional kiss, no matter how superficial it may or may not be.

Honestly, he was just plain damn happy.
