There, in the middle of the floor, was broken glass everywhere and what looked like blood. And a lot of it. Selena was clutching her hand with blood dripping down. Jared rushed to get a hand towel and put it on the wound, pressing it hard to stop the flow, making her wince as she sucked in her breath.

"Damn it! Oh, this is just great!" She looked to be in a lot of pain.

"What the hell happened?" Jared asked looking worried as he put pressure to the wound.

"I was trying to get the glasses up top, but dad must have pushed them way back there, so I couldn't reach. I got a chair to get them down, but the stupid chair wasn't stable, and I fell. The glass broke while in my hand." she said as tears brimmed her eye lids.

Jared closely looked at the cut, but it was hard as blood kept gushing out, so he pushed the towel on more firmly making Selena flinch. Mila started picking up the broken glass.

"You're going to need stitches, this is deep." Jared sighed heavily with a deep concerned face.

Evan whistled low and long as he looked over Jared's shoulder to see the deep cut as he once again removed it to look at it more closely. The bleeding had stopped momentarily but he kept the pressure of the towel on it just in case it started back up again.

"Here, keep this covered up and put pressure on it. I'll go and get the car started." He told his sister.

Evan bent down to help Mila pick up the glass. Jared left the room and grabbed the keys that he knew his father left for him to use the old truck in case they needed anything while they were away. Then, not looking back, he walked out the front door.

"I'm sorry about this Mila."

"It's alright Sel, it's not your fault that this happened, do you want me to go with you to the hospital?" She looked up at her as she held a few broken pieces in her hand to toss out.

Evan responded before Selena could get a word out. "It's ok, we could stay here while Jared takes her. It will be a couple of hours so you're just going to have to sit in the waiting room anyways."

Selena frowned thinking on that. Giving Evan a sideways glance she said, "Well, he does make a point, but it's ok if you want to go too, it will just be you two here."

Mila stood up and threw the glass in the trash bin. "Well, do you want me to go?"

Jared walked back into the kitchen. "Cars is started, ready to go?" he asked.

Selena walked over to her brother stepping around Evan who was still picking up the mess. "Maybe you should stay here Mila, I'll be back as soon as I can."

Jared looked at both Evan and Mila for a moment and then said, "Evan could I talk to you in my room for a moment." Then he walked off without waiting for his friend's reply.

Evan got up. "Um yeah, sure, why not Jared." He mocked. He threw away the glass pieces he held and walked out saying, "Be right back."

Mila grabbed a rag and started picking up all the blood that was left on the floor, careful on not cutting herself from the thin little pieces that were left behind. "What is that all about?" she asked Selena, curious on why Jared asked his friend to talk to him in the other room where they couldn't listen to what they were saying.

"Probably telling him not to do anything he would normally do with every other female." Selena sighed as she winced from the pain her hand was now giving.

She stopped what she was doing and looked up at her to stare with mild disbelief. "Which is?"

Her friend gave a disgusted look. "Oh, you know, trying to get in her pants type of thing, smooth talk her into liking him and making a move on her."
