The next day, Connor came running towards Rose in the archery area, where she was practicing her skills.

"Hey! Rose!" he said excitedly.

Her eyes brightened and she lowered her bow.

"Hey," she said.

"Nino got claimed," he informed her.

"Yeah? By whom?" she asked.

"Hephaestus," he said. "Travis allowed me to take the five unclaimed around to try and understand their godly parents. Beckendorf showed them the forge and Nino got claimed when he started hammering the hot blade. And I mean hot blade. Loyal got burned. Had to go see Will."

Rose laughed. "I don't doubt it, poor kid."

"I sent them off for lunch now," Connor said, "next stop would've been the strawberry fields with the Demeters."

"Oh yeah? That's neat, I bet Violet's gonna be claimed by Demeter," Rose said.

"I think so too," said Connor, "and I was thinking you could lead them on the trial thing."

Rose raised an eyebrow. "Me? Why not Katie, the Cabin Counselor?"

"She can, but I saw that she's been a bit busy," Connor said, "apparently Miranda wasn't that much of a boss while she was gone and now she needs to get everyone back on schedule. She sounded like you when she told me."

"A schedule is never a bad plan, and she is being the perfect amount of rigid, even if I am exhausted from this morning's training," said Rose.

"So? Will you help out?"

"Sure," she said, "I'll run it by her first though."

"Sure."

Rose raised her bow and aimed at the target.

"But that's not the only reason I came to talk to you today," he said mischievously.

"Hm?" said Rose, who was all concentrated on her archery.

"I remember that you lost a certain bet before-"

Whizzz Shkadennng.

Rose's arrow flew straight past the target and slammed into a tree.

"OW!!" shrieked the dryad, who exited the trunk with Rose's arrow stuck in her arm.

"I'm sorry!" Rose called at her.

"Seriously! I thought you people were good at this! It's the seventh time this month!" said the dryad.

"I'm really sorry!" said Rose. "You should go to the infirmary!"

The dryad scowled at her. "You're lucky Will Solace is cute!" she snapped before jogging towards the infirmary with the agility of someone who certainly wasn't in pain.

Rose glared at Connor, her cheeks pink.

"Do you mind!?"

"Sorry," Connor said sheepishly.

She sighed and massaged her temples.

He grinned. "So?"

"So what?" Rose snapped.

"You lost that bet, remember," he smirked.

"I don't know what you're talking about," Rose said, distractedly taking aim again.

"Yes, you do, Travis confessed before Katie did, which means..." he waited to hear her say it.

"Which means what?" Rose said, glaring at the target.
