A/N

Happy birthday to our very own Chef Leo the Tofu Taco Expert, Admiral Leo, Super-sized McShizzle Man, Bad Boy Supreme, Supreme Commander of the Argo II, Flaming Valdez, Hot Stuff, and The Dread Pirate Valdez!

Our beautiful, flamin' hot (drumroll please) Leo Valdez! (07/07)

Honestly, if I could date any character in the Riordanverse, it'd probably be him.

Leo is one of my favorite characters and I love him. After this book is finished, I think I'll start my Leo fanfiction. Maybe. It's already all planned out, as are most of the fanfictions that I'll never end up writing 😅.

Enjoy the chapter!

Travis, Katie, and Rose faced the Queen and Barry, side by side, ready to fight.

If this is like the classical book kind of adventure quest, we're going to get the villain monologue any time soon, Rose thought. Wait huh? What am I even talking about? This is real life! Not some book! Focus, Rose!

The Queen rose (heh) into the air, flapping her crooked, duct-taped wings slowly.

Barry the green fire monster crackled repeatedly, making Rose wonder if he was clapping.

"I've come so far! I have come so much farther than my wretched sister!" she screamed. "And now you, you, you filthy little half-bloods come and steal my children! My gorgeous children! Lithia! Cally! Sodi! Tassy! Magnes! Of you all, only my darling Barry remains!"

As she spoke, the Queen raised her arms dramatically.

Barry crackled sadly.

Travis and Katie shared a glance.

"You!" the Queen snapped, suddenly pointing at Rose, who jumped. "Three! Three of them you've murdered! Three of my babies!"

Rose scowled.

"Who are you, Yoda? That's enough, lady, we're here to stop you and free Iris!"

"Aha! Yeah, my brother is already escorting her out of this hell hole, along with your poor prisoners! What you've done to those children is unforgivable! I will destroy you for what you've done to them!" Travis shouted, brandishing his sword at the flying figure.

Katie swooned at his determination.

Rose, on the other hand, sent him a nasty glare. It didn't help them to let her know the rest of their plans. It did not help them at all.

The Queen paled. The blue flames that resided within her eye sockets dimmed with shock.

"You've... You've released her? You've released my sister?"

The silence in the underground room was defeating.

"S-sister?" Katie said, eyes wide. "What do you mean, sister?"

"Oh, she didn't tell you?" the Queen said bitterly. "Of course she didn't. Those that serve the Olympians never tell the truth to anyone."

Rose and Travis shared a look.

"Plot-twist?" Travis muttered.

The Queen slowly floated down to the ground.

"I loved my sister, I truly did," the Queen said sadly, "but she never understood that the Olympians were never meant to overthrow my lord, the great Kronos. Who better to rule for all time than the Lord of Time himself?"
