Karlee, Jasper, Alice, and Edward arrive at the school and stood outside their cars waiting for the field trip to start. Karlee was excited for the greenhouse field trip since she loves plants.
"What's wrong with Eddie? We're going to the greenhouse." Karlee says excitedly
"He's listening in on Bella and Mike's conversation, doll. And nobody is as excited as you are about going to the greenhouse." Jasper says.
Karlee hits Edward's arm, causing him to look down at her. "Eddie, stop listening in on their conversation. It's rude." Karlee says and Jasper and Alice laugh.
"Yo, yo, yo. Hey, guys, come on. We got to go. We got to go. Green is what? Good. Let's go. Yo, guys, come on." Mr. Molina says getting the students to go on the bus. Alice sits next to Jasper in the back and Karlee is on the other side of Jasper and next to Edward.
"Her joy is infectious." Jasper quietly says to Alice about Karlee's joy.

The students were walking in the greenhouse. Jasper was sticking close to Alice and Karlee. He likes focusing on Karlee's emotions, especially around nature. Her joy and contentment help him block out all the other emotions around him, including the hunger from his siblings.
Karlee was enjoying being at the greenhouse. She loved being surrounded by the plants. She could feel the energy in the plants bringing her peace and contentment.
"Eggshells, carrot tops. Compost is cool. Now stuff that in there. Very good, very good." They heard Mr. Molina telling Eric as Jasper, Alice, and Karlee walked past them following Edward.
Jasper felt Karlee's joy and contentment around all the plants before feeling a spike of excitement as she dragged him in the direction of some flowers. "Look, Jas. Lilies." She says with a bright smile that makes Jasper smile in return.
"Your favorite flowers." He says with a smile. He picks one of the flowers and puts it behind her ear. "Perfect." He says. She smiles brightly at him.
Alice skips up to them and links arms with Karlee. "Come on, let's see what else we can find." She says
"Okay." Karlee says with a smile and the two skip away. Jasper follows behind with an amused smile.

At the end of the tour, Karlee, Jasper, and Alice walk outside to the busses where they notice Bella and Edward arguing....again. Alice walks up to the two of them while Karlee stays back with Jasper.
"Hi. Are you riding with us?" Alice asks Bella.
"No. Our bus is full." Edward answers rudely before getting on the bus.
Alice looks at Bella with a sad smile before getting on the bus with Jasper and Karlee following after her.

The next day Karlee and her family were sitting at their table in the cafeteria talking while Karlee was sketching in her seat between her mother and Jasper. Edward suddenly got up and approached Bella at the salad bar.
"What is he doing?" Rosalie asks
Karlee looked up and saw Edward talking to Bella. "Something stupid. What happens if she finds out about me?"
"I'm not going to let that happen."
"Yeah, but if others find out, I could be in danger."
"Nothing's going to happen to you, sunshine. We won't let it." Jasper says.
