I walked into an empty apartment, knowing Jade still hadn’t come home. Placing the keys on the kitchen counter, I headed into my bedroom.
As I got ready for bed, my phone started ringing. It was Chris.
“Hey” I chirped into the phone.
“You got home safely?”
“Yes, thank you”
“Sorry tonight ended quickly”
“It’s okay; are your parents still there?”
“No, they just left”
“Okay”
“What are you doing?”
“Getting ready for bed, you?”
“Wishing you were here”
“I would tell you to come over, but you were just so persistent with me taking your car”
I heard him laugh on the other side of the phone before continuing, “Yeah, or else I’d be right next to you, finishing what I started”
I felt my insides twist as he smoothly spoke.
“Well, you can’t…well not right now” I whispered.
“Oh but I will” He replied. I could sense him smirking on the other side.
“I’ll see you tomorrow”
“Yes; what time will you come over?”
“I can come over around ten?”
“Okay, I’ll see you then baby”
We both stayed on the phone and I could sense his grin. “Tomorrow” I said.
“Tomorrow” he repeated. I still held the phone next to my ear as we both stayed on the line.
“You should go to bed” He said.
“So should you”
“I still have a lot of work to do”
“Then you should get started on it”
“And you should go to bed” He repeated.
“I’ll see you tomorrow”
“Goodnight MacKayla”
“Night Chris” I hung up the phone and placed it on my bedside table before getting into bed.
Thinking about what had happened today – the party, Caroline, meeting his mom – and just wondering how this all placed into pieces. A few weeks ago, I had just applied for this job, and now I’m dating the CEO. Wow, it’s shocking how everything works out.
