I woke up with a jolt when I heard a door slam shut.

“MacKayla” I heard a drunk Jade call outside my door. Groggily getting out of bed, I walked to the door and opened it to see her lying on the couch.

“MacKayla!” She screeched as she saw me.

“Jade, are you drunk?”

“No” She tried to maintain a straight face, but burst into laughter and continued, “Okay, maybe I drank a little bit” She gestured with her fingers.

“Uh-huh, sure”

“How was your date? Is he here?” Her eyes got wide as she realized that he might be in my room.

“It was fun, and no he’s not here” I walked next to her and sat on the couch beside her. “Who dropped you home?” I asked her, fully aware that she couldn’t have drove around like this.

“I did” Jake entered the living room from the kitchen, holding a glass of water, and two Advil.

“Jake, hey”

“Hey MacKayla” He handed the Advil and water to Jade as she swallowed the pills and her eyes started to shut. He took a seat on the single-seater across from us.

“How are you?”

He shrugged his shoulders, “I’m fine; definitely not as drunk as her, but I was known as the ‘designated driver’”

“Not like that; I meant like how are you”

“Oh… I’m fine. Just college’s a pain and I can’t wait to just graduate already” He slouched down on the couch and sighed deeply.

“I know right; it’s just seems like it’s extra-long this semester”

“I know! It needs to end soon”

I laughed and agreed, “True, true”

“Why didn’t you come tonight?”

“Um… I had a date”

“Oh right, I think Jade mentioned something like that”

He looked at me and eyed my pajamas.

“I should go home” He said as he stood up from the couch”

“Oh, okay” I looked at the clock and noticed it was 3 A.M. “Wow, it’s late”

He chuckled, “Yeah, we should hang out soon”

I nodded my head, “Yeah, definitely”

“Well it was great chatting” He hugged me tightly and once he let go, he walked out of the apartment.

Walking to Jade, I knew it would be too much of a hassle to take her to her room, so I just decided to leave her on the couch, and I made my way to my room, and once again, I fell into a deep and dreamless sleep.
