Roman POV

I was fixing my hair when I felt a presence behind me. A glance in the mirror showed me that a broadly grinning Amali was standing in the doorway. Not a second later, she wrapped her arms around me from behind and pressed herself tightly against me.

"Are you going to be long? Shouldn't we get going?" she wanted to know as she put her face against my back.

It had been like this all morning. Apparently patience wasn't her strong suit at the moment. It was really cute how excited she was. And I had to admit that it really calmed my nerves to know that she was so thrilled at the prospect of what I was about to do.

At first I was so mad at myself for ruining the surprise. I just hadn't expected Amali to wake up so early. But it turned out fine. More or less. The only good thing was that I was now very sure that she would accept my proposal.

It had been one of those things that had cost me a few nerves and sleepless nights. After all, it was a risky situation. She had gotten one before and I knew how that had turned out. She couldn't say yes. That had been a big fear.

But after that incident with the ring the other morning... I knew I would get my yes. What I also knew was that Amali kept trying to use Jojo to get information, any detail, out of me. But what my girl didn't know was that my daughter was not her spy and helper but mine. Jojo helped me pick out a few things for the big surprise. And she could distract Amali for me if necessary.

"I'm done now. Have you packed everything? The car should be here any minute," I finally replied.

"Oh there's a car coming to pick us up?" she asked as she looked around me to see my face in the mirror.

I couldn't help but laugh. She was so adorable.

"Yes and then the private plane will be waiting to take us to our destination." I replied as I turned around to give her a kiss on the nose.

"And that destination would be where exactly?" she asked, tilting her head and biting her lip.

"So impatient... Wait and see, my angel," I said.

Hours later, we were on the plane and I had my arm around Amali while she slept with her head on my chest. Just like she usually did during a flight.

I had to chuckle because she had finally given up bombarding me with a million questions. But a glance out of the window showed me that we were close, so I decided to wake her up.

"Amali... Wake up, baby girl," I said softly.

She lifted her head almost immediately and looked at me. Maybe she wasn't as deeply asleep as I had thought.

"What's wrong?" she asked sleepily.

"Look at that view." I said, pointing my finger in the direction I meant.

Her head turned towards the windows. I immediately heard her gasp. It was almost as if I had planned it. The perfect view of the snow-covered mountains glistening in the sunlight. No sign of the mist that usually hung in the air to block it.

"Oh my goodness! You really did it, didn't you?" she wanted to know, squeezing my hand tightly as she looked at me with wide, glowing eyes.

"We both thought it was a great idea. And I didn't think there was a more perfect place for it than Aspen. For us, it's everything at the same time. Valentine's Day, our anniversary and the big surprise. But I won't tell you exactly how that will happen yet," I replied before giving her a long kiss.
