Amali POV

With a big yawn, I turned onto my other side and wrapped my arms and legs around the sleeping man by my side. I clung to his warm body like a koala bear and inhaled his familiar, comforting scent.

Ro reached for my hand and took it in his. He pressed it to his chest so that I could feel his heartbeat.

"Good morning, baby girl. Did you sleep well?" he asked me in his seductive morning voice.

"Like a baby. What about you?" I replied before pressing a kiss to his broad shoulder.

"That's what I like to hear. I slept well too. I should probably get up to start breakfast. I'm sure the kids will be up soon." he said and lifted my hand to press a kiss on it.

"No... Don't get up... You're so warm. The bed gets cold and lonely so quickly without you..." I whined and clung to him tighter so that he had no chance of breaking free from my embrace.

Or well... Actually, he could have done it easily if he had really wanted to. Instead, he chuckled softly. Roman enjoyed it just as much as I did, I was sure of it.

"Okay... I think we have a few more minutes." he finally surrendered, sighing.

We were both about to fall asleep again when we heard the first footsteps outside the door. Followed by giggling and squeaking.

"Guys, are you up? The boys are hungry." Jojo called out after knocking gently on the bedroom door.

"I'll be there in a minute, sweet pea. You can turn on the TV if you want," Roman replied and then sat up.

But if he thought I was going to let him go that easily, he was wrong. My grip remained just as tight as before. Even if it was far less comfortable. I buried my face in his neck. It tickled a little because of his loosened hair.

"Are you planning to let me go?" Ro asked with a deep chuckle.

"It doesn't look like it, does it?" I replied.

"Okay. Then you'll just have to come with me. It's your own fault, you had the chance to go back to sleep." he said as he just stood up like it was nothing.

I caught a quick glimpse of us in the mirror. And damn did that man look hot, even in his pyjamas. Roman was wearing plaid pajama pants and a white tank top. His hair was loose and wild as he just started walking. It didn't seem to bother him a bit that I was attached to him.

"You look damn hot. Too bad the kids are in the house." I whispered in his ear and then pressed a kiss into the little dent underneath as he made his way to the kitchen with me.

"That goes for you too. Maybe you should live out your thoughts tonight when they're in bed," he said softly.

"Oh I don't know... I think I'd be too loud for what's going through my head. But I could come back to it when we're alone again," I replied.

"Please do." he laughed as we walked into the kitchen.

"Please do what?" Waylon asked his dad.

The boys were sitting at the table playing with their cards and looking at us with wide eyes.

"Um... nothing at all. Good morning, champs! Did you sleep well? Jojo? Come here a second." Roman replied, slightly embarrassed.

"Morning, Dad. Morning, Amali. Why do you have Dad in a headlock?" the young lady wanted to know when she came to us.

"Oh, you know... He promised me waffles yesterday, but now he wants to make eggs for breakfast," I replied.

"Oh Dad! That's not okay. You should keep your promises. Waffles would be really great." she said, giving him a look I knew very well.

She was trying to make him feel guilty. And knowing her and him, she had an excellent chance of making it work.

"Okay fine. I surrender. I'll make waffles. Guys? Do you want waffles too or are you going to help your dad with this and say you'd rather have eggs?" he then said.

He seemed to be hoping to get Kingsley and Waylon on his side. However, luck was not in his favor this morning.

"We'll have the waffles too, please!" Kingsley said and his brother nodded his head vigorously.

"Darn it..." Roman grumbled and then finally pulled me off his back to get to work.

"Oh come on! That's not fair! I'm last! Why do I only get mushrooms? Where's my blue shell? I don't even get a star!" I complained.

Once again, I came last by a long way. Mario Kart really wasn't my game. But the kids thought it was funny that no matter how hard I tried, I always lost. Roman probably thought that I let the kids win every time and was so bad on purpose. But it was just that I didn't have it in me. I didn't have to pretend.

"Maybe you'll be better next time..." Waylon snickered.

I knew he knew he wasn't serious. We'd been playing it all the time lately when the kids and I were at Roman's at the same time. At the weekends or like today on a day off. And there was no sign of any improvement.

"Cheeky boy..." I laughed and grabbed him and tousled his hair.

"Another round?" Jojo asked.

"Oh yes! I have to defend my honor!" I said.

But at that moment, my phone rang. I took a quick look at the display and sighed.

"Okay, guys. I have to take this. Carry on, I'll be back soon," I said and then left the room.

"Who is it?" Roman wanted to know.

"Oh, just my mother," I replied.

On the way out, I could feel his gaze following me.
